On that note it's a wrap from us. The series decider is on Saturday, and make a note that it's a different start time. The game will begin earlier at 3pm local time, which will also mean the impact of dew will likely be much less. Until then though, on behalf of Fidel and Chandan, this is Madushka signing off. Good night!
Najmul Hossain Shanto is named Player of the Match for his 38-ball 53: "I think it shows a lot of character [the way we came back] and how we bowled in these conditions. Really happy with the way we bowled. I'm not giving any bowler's particular credit, they all bowled really well. Shoriful bowled well during the BPL as well, so he's found his form and I'm happy for him. [batters?] I think Litton and Soumya started very well, and later on Hridoy batted really well. What I felt was it was a proper team game. [You needed runs?] Obviously as batsman you want to score every match. Hopefully I'll continue my form."
Charith Asalanka: "Firstly we were short about 20-25 runs, and then Kamindu's run out also played a huge part in the game. As a batsman we have to make big runs, especially in these conditions. Because it's very hard for the bowlers to bowl in these conditions. [Angelo Mathews chipped in?] Yes that's why he's in the side, he's a veteran now and he delivers for the team. [Bangladesh?] Credit goes to their batsman, especially Shanto, and Hridoy and Litton. They batted well."
Time for the post-match presentation
9.30pm So having come so very close two nights back, Bangladesh hit back in comprehensive fashion to set up a series decider on Friday. Shanto and Hridoy saw the chase through with 11 balls and 8 wickets to spare, and while Sri Lanka might have a legitimate grievance about Soumya's nick behind being unexpectedly overturned, Bangladesh were good value for their win. While Shanto got a fifty and each of Bangladesh's top four contributed well, it was their bowlers that did the damage, restricting Sri Lanka with some accurate and effective bowling - particularly at the death.
Bangladesh just two away now
END OF OVER:18 | 12 Runs | BAN: 164/2 (2 runs required from 12 balls, RR: 9.11, RRR: 1.00)
- Towhid Hridoy32 (25b)
- Najmul Hossain Shanto47 (37b)
- Maheesh Theekshana4-0-35-0
- Dasun Shanaka1-0-13-0
Looks like there's going to be a change in ball. The current one is deemed to soggy to persevere with.
Banshee: "Srilanka has given away 21 extras compared to Bangladesh's 5. "
Marsh: "The difference between two teams lies with number of extras."
END OF OVER:17 | 13 Runs | BAN: 152/2 (14 runs required from 18 balls, RR: 8.94, RRR: 4.66)
- Towhid Hridoy24 (22b)
- Najmul Hossain Shanto45 (34b)
- Dasun Shanaka1-0-13-0
- Angelo Mathews2.2-0-22-0
Here's Shanaka belatedly
Banshee: "Bangladesh has made a radical improvement in two areas they were quite poor in the first match - death over bowling and top order batting."
END OF OVER:16 | 11 Runs | BAN: 139/2 (27 runs required from 24 balls, RR: 8.68, RRR: 6.75)
- Najmul Hossain Shanto33 (30b)
- Towhid Hridoy23 (20b)
- Angelo Mathews2.2-0-22-0
- Dilshan Madushanka4-0-34-0
Mathews will complete the over as Pathirana hobbles off.
Oh dear, Pathirana is holding his left leg. Looks like his hamstring. Don't think he's going to complete this over.
