5:04 pm The umpire decides to call it a day since the lights won't improve. Early in the innings, Afghanistan lost Atal, their debutant opener. The innings was then built by some outstanding strokes from Rahmat Shah and Abdul Malik. Myers missed two difficult opportunities at the gully area. Things would have gone in the home team's favour if they had taken advantage of the four challenging opportunities--two in slip and two in gully. Also, one lbw was rejected, which appeared to be hitting the middle leg on the back pad of Shahidi. Abdul Malik holed out at Deep Square Leg region off a short pitched delivery of Muzarabani. Then, till the end of the day, Rahmat and captain Shahidi both batted carefully. Rahmat Shah, now with 49 runs not out, is looking excellent at the crease. In order to maximise the day's play and continue, the umpire instructed the captain of the fielding side to refrain from using any fast bowlers, which further reduced Zimbabwe's bowling lineup due to the lack of daylight. With nine overs remaining in the day, the play was halted early because of poor lighting. Tomorrow, we'll get started ahead of the schedule. Please join us when the Day 3 play begins tomorrow. I'm signing off on behalf of Harshith, Sreshth, and myself, Rashad.
Younus Khan : "The match is delayed or Stump day 2?" The umpires haven't called Stumps yet, thus the game is delayed.
4:51 pm While monitoring the light, the umpires are also speaking with Craig Ervine. The umpires assessed both ends and decided to put a temporary halt because of the poor lighting.
