Ajinkya Rahane: Winning the trophy after 27 years feel amazing. It was a red soil wicket. Playing at Wankhede on a red soil wickets made us know how the wicket will behave. I will like to pick Tanush Kotian for his performances in the previous season and this match. Players have kept themselves ready by playing in various tournaments. The Ranji Trophy and Irani Cup belongs to everyone playing in Mumbai - the maidan cricketers and everyone playing cricket in Mumbai
Sarfaraz Khan is the player of the match: (on his development as a player) I follow the process well and came into the tournament with practice. I worked hard with my father during practice. You build up experience by playing in different grounds. You get a knowledge on how to play on different pitches.I have a lot to learn by being around the Test team and can improve every facet of my game. This trophy belongs to every cricketer in Mumbai
Ruturaj Gaikwad: Definitely (on the decision of electing to field on winning the toss). We got three wickets in the first session. The partnership between Sarfaraz and Tanush Kotian took them to extend the game a little bit. Shardul walking in and adding those runs with Sarfaraz ... those two partnerships were crucial, adding to the frustration to us. Abhimanyu Easwaran played well. Dhruv batted well. Our lower order didn't play as well as their lower order did. Saransh Jain bowled well in the second innings
The Ranji Trophy begins on October 11th and these players can further their case by their performance there. Join us for the presentation in a little while
Another feather in the captaincy cap for Ajinkya Rahane. This is Mumbai's 16th Irani cup win (one shared and 15 wins). Performances in Irani Cup are seen as a stepping stone to a spot in the Indian cricket team. Sarfaraz Khan, Tanush Kotian, Abhimanyu Easwaran and Dhruv Jurel would be the players hoping to be knocking on the doors of the team. Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel have played Tests for India, but they are yet to cement a spot in the playing XI. These performances will only make them knock the door harder
They have called the game off here in Lucknow and Mumbai win the Irani Cup for the first time since 1997/98 season. Predictably all the Mumbai players are beaming. They know their history, the Mumbai players
Manav Suthar back into the attack
Rest of India agreed to settle for a draw after being set a 450-run target with little time left in the game
Mumbai finished the fourth day 274 runs in front with four second-innings wickets in hand
RoI are still trailing Mumbai's first-innings total of 537 by 248 runs
With lower-order support from Kotian and Thakur, he became the first Mumbai batter to score a double-hundred in the Irani Cup
Three early wickets from Mukesh had Mumbai rattling before Rahane, Shreyas and Safaraz took the team to 237 for 4
