10.20pm So, that just about wraps it up from Hamilton. Andrew McGlashan's match report will be here, and he will have all the follow-ups to come, including an account of Ben Stokes' return to the fray. But for now, from myself, Varun and Alagappan, goodbye and see you next time.

10.15pm Peter: "If I am reading a cricket blog I do not expect to read about a rugby score. Was just about to watch a tape of the Murrayfield match......" Apologies Peter, but I think you'd need to emigrate to Tristan da Cunha to avoid finding out such things in the internet age. Still, now you know the result, you might as well read all about it on ESPN.co.uk!

Kane Williamson "We had to play a lot of cricket before the dew came in, but it certainly was a factor. Keeping them to 70 in the last ten was a great effort, especially when Jos Buttler can hit it to all parts. Mitch Santner is a clean ball-striker."

Eoin Morgan "There wasn't much between the sides, we put a really competitive score on the board, but they fought back really well. It ebbed and flowed quite a while but taking it to the end, we didn't have enough in the tank. The dew played a part, it's a reason [we'd have batted second]. It was a competitive game, and great to be part of."

The Man of the Match is Ross Taylor "I live here, so sleeping in my own bed must have an effect," he says. "I needed to take it deep and give ourselves a chance. It was a little two-faced, even the slower balls kissed off different to a few days ago. Very small boundaries here so we backed ourselves to get 50 off five overs."

10pm Wow, what a contest. New Zealand were all at sea at 27 for 3, were cruising while Taylor and Latham were turning the tables with their fourth-wicket stand, and seemed out of it again when they slumped to 215 for 6 in 42nd over. But Mitchell Santner produced a stunning final riposte to carry his side to a very impressive win. Credit also to the NZ seamers, Boult and Southee, who refused to allow Jos Buttler to cut loose at the death in England's innings.

Sundar S: "The brains trust meeting at the start of the last over reminds me of an interview by Wes Hall talking about the tied test. Apparently The captain ran up to him before the last ball was bowled and said "I have nothing to tell you". To that Hall asked why was he there then. Worrell replied, "The batsman doesn't know I have nothing to tell you"."

Anand Jetti: "The last few overs are exactly the kind of cricket England has to stop playing! They don't seem to believe the game was their's to lose after taking 3 quick wickets. World Cup? Try leaving New Zealand without too many scars!" Well, on the plus side, setbacks like this (and England rugby at Murrayfield) are better now than at the sharp end in 2019...

Woakes to Santner, SIX, that's the way to win it! In the slot, slammed off the toes like a left-handed Carlos Brathwaite, high over deep midwicket to give New Zealand first blood in a thrilling finale!

Woakes to Santner, 1 wide, slower ball, but it's too far outside off stump!

Woakes to Santner, FOUR, on the toes, and flicked through the legs for a vital boundary! So unlucky for Woakes, he got the blockhole targetted, but the inside edge did enough for New Zealand

So, who has the honour? There's a big brains-trust meeting taking place. Morgan, Stokes, Woakes and Buttler. And it will be Chris Woakes... I guess Kolkata is too raw a memory for such a moment...
