5.30pm This series is still alive. West Indies can still square it. India will need to rethink a few things - possibly their combination too - going into the final match at Sabina Park on Thursday. All to play for. Do join us for that game. Until then, goodbye!

Jason Holder (he's the Player of the Match too): "Extremely pleased with the guys. It took a big effort. Credit must go to all the bowlers. I thought the fielding was very supportive. We knew we could beat India. Just needed some application. Throughout the series we've spoken about taking new-ball wickets. India's top order has been doing well. It's all about getting Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Virat as soon as possible. I want to make a special mention of Kesrick Williams - showed a lot of maturity in his second game, showed a lot of heart as well. Batting is an area of concern. We were thinking 250 was the par score on this ground. I always believe in myself. I thought I was doing fairly well in the series so far. Only cricicism was at the back end. Roddy Estwick told me not to try too many things and just stick to my plans, and that's what I did."

Virat Kohli: "We bowled really well to restrict them to 189. Our shot selection wasn't up to the mark. Losing crucial wickets at crucial stages. You've got to keep up the momentum through the game. Credit to the West Indies bowlers. They created those dot balls that induced those mistakes. It felt a bit two-paced. Apart from that I don't think there was anything else in the pitch. The bowlers were on the mark, and the fielders as well. With the bat we faltered and that can happen in this game. We just have to put this behind us and come back fresh for the next game."

Gulzar Ahmad : "Hi i am from Lahore and here is 2 AM. That was so bad chase which i seen froom Indian team and keep it mind one thing that India's last 3 defeats came from rank 7, 8 and 9...."

Sidharth Monga's report is nearly up, by the way. I can tell you that it begins with the line: "The wine is oxidising fast." Ouch.

Rishab Jain: "Final over vs Rabada, final over vs Bravo, final over in Zimbabwe, first and last IPL match 2017 and many more... he is no longer able to finish matches. Batting skill is deserting him!"

Anekant: "What was the need for "taking this deep"? A chase which would have been over in 40 overs even considering the slow pitch, has turned out to be this debacle. Undue respect shown to the bowlers. Whatever happened to the Bevan-style rotation of strike !" -- Like I said, I'm not sure he was "taking it deep" by design. It seemed like an innings where he simply stopped timing the ball.

Avnish Anshu: "Never seen MSD look so glum and dejected after a match. Not even after the CT final. This was a match he was supposed to have won for his country by all means and yet..." -- Yup. Dejected is the word. He was sitting with his pads still on, watching vacantly as the final over unfolded.

Mazhar Shehzaad: "To be honest, low, comfortable chases are boring. Such low scoring anticlimax sort of games are good for cricket. Otherwise why else would i be watching it in a remote town of Peshawar (Pakistan) at 2 am in the morning."

Tushar: "Two brainfades from Jadeja in two matches now."

Abhishek Gupta: "Tell me Karthik.. How many comments have flown in comparing Dhoni's innings with Gavaskar's infamous 36" -- Quite a few. I've just been too caught up typing in ball descriptions to publish them.

5.10pm I haven't seen too many stranger matches than this one. Like someone commented earlier, a close match arising from a battle between two teams playing quite badly. But West Indies kept themselves in the game with some excellent bowling and fielding, and, barring that over from Chase, some good plans too, right from the time Holder and Joseph bowled seven-over new-ball spells and didn't spread the field after the 10th over.

Did India take it a little too easy? Could Rahane have shown more urgency? Perhaps. Could Dhoni? Definitely, but I don't think his low scoring rate was down to design; his innings, at one point, descended into one of those horrible days when nothing goes right. What do you do under such circumstances? This, remember, is a man who scored a near run-a-ball 78 in the previous match, on what seemed a more difficult pitch.

Holder to Mohammed Shami, OUT, five-for! Holder's won it for West Indies! A full-toss on off stump, not the greatest ball he's bowled, but why would he care? Makes himself room, Shami, looks to hit over extra-cover, but can't clear the fielder. Side-on replays show it's just below waist-high, and that's when he's taken a stride forward

Mohammed Shami c Chase b Holder 1 (2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 50.00

Holder to Kuldeep Yadav, 1 run, in the blockhole again, on the stumps. Clears his front leg and slogs and only manages a bottom-edge towards short fine leg

Shashank: "I had sent a comment 4 overs ago referring that will this be one of those matches where Dhoni thinks he can pull it off but doesn't, and no prizes for guessing who didn't publish" -- Congratulations.

Holder goes around the wicket to Kuldeep.

Holder to Mohammed Shami, 1 run, too full to get any elevation. Full and straight, he clears his front leg and swipes, all along the ground, to long-on

Well, well. It's come down to the last wicket. Mohammed Shami is India's No. 11. A six now would make it eight off four balls.

Holder to Yadav, OUT, bowled him! Off-stump yorker and Umesh slogs all around it. They check for no-ball but Holder's foot is totally fine. This is his fourth wicket. 4 for 25 in 9.1 overs.

UT Yadav b Holder 0 (1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Only two off that over, and the wicket of Dhoni. What a 49th over from Williams. India now need 14 from the last over. Umesh Yadav is the new batsman. He's on strike since the batsmen crossed over.

END OF OVER:
49 | 2 Runs 1 Wkt | IND: 176/8 (14 runs required from 6 balls, RR: 3.59, RRR: 14.00)

Williams to Dhoni, OUT, full outside off, too full for Dhoni to get the elevation he wants, and he's hit it straight to long-on. Cleared his front leg, swung hard, and hit it flat and too close to Joseph, who moved a couple of steps to his right to take a waist-high catch

MS Dhoni c Joseph b Williams 54 (114b 1x4 0x6) SR: 47.36

14 from 7 now.

Williams to Kuldeep Yadav, 1 run, this time he moves the other way, across towards off stump. Bowls a full slower ball and he gives it a big slog. Only manages a top-edge that bounces down towards third man

Williams to Kuldeep Yadav, no run, quick length ball now, fairly wide of off. Looks to slap it through point, can't connect. Again he tried to make room, and moved too early. Gave it away to the bowler

Williams to Kuldeep Yadav, no run, nicely bowled. Mid-off was in the circle, and Kuldeep may have been eyeing that area while he made himself room. Follows him with a slower ball, and all he can do is jab into the point region
