4.6 Harris has got Smith. A poor shot from him. This is really full and straight, and Smith has played all very this. Right across the line of it. Caught deep in the crease too. The ball hits the back leg. This is plumb. At least he hasn't got out to Johnson 10/1

69.3 Lyon breaks another partnership. What a soft shot too. What a concentration break. This was premeditated, I can tell. He has cleared the front leg, and wants to go either long-on or wider towards midwicket, but the ball is not there. It is wide outside off, and there is no way he can time it from here, but Elgar goes ahead with the shot, and skies it up. Caught at mid-off 181/4
5.3 mighty Hash is out. Johnson is on fire. What a great delivery. Full, swinging, quick, and straight. This has pitched leg, straightened, and will have hit leg. To beat Amla so comprehensively, you have to be really good. And that is what Johnson is 11/2
43.1 Lyon has du Plessis. This is a soft dismissal first ball after drinks. Flat length ball, du Plessis is clearly not to its pitch, but he looks to play it to leg. Obviously he has allowed it time to turn, and turn it does to take the inside edge onto the pad, and through to short leg 123/3
123.5 Lyon breaks another stand. AB jumps out of the crease again, but is finally beaten in the flight, and pushes in front of his body. Lyon dives to his right to take the catch that sends him back to a warm applause from the crowd and his team-mates 349/6
76.5 Smith has taken a wicket, and de Kock is kicking himself for playing a poor shot. This is just a premeditated charge at him, and Smith's length is nowhere near his driving bat. De Kock ends up playing a check loft, and lobs this up for mid-off where Moises Henriques, the sub, takes the catch 200/5

149.4 that's plumb. And a michelle for Lyon. Maybe not as plumb. Duminy reviews this. Actually, Duminy has got it wrong. He is indeed plumb. Tries the reverse sweep, and is beaten. The ball is pitched middle, straightens, and is going on to hit middle. The on-field decision stays. Duminy out after scoring a hundred scored at a strike rate of 53, which is an achievement on this pitch 420/9
136.3 Clarke has a wicket. A lovely catch to his left. This is tossed up on off, Philander is not close to the pitch of it as he drives, and Clarke dives to his left to take it with both hands 378/7
70.4 length ball, middle and leg, defended to midwicket. More assured against the quick 182/4

150.5 and the innings ends in a run-out. This is played just wide of short midwicket, and Morkel is sent back. A good take by Haddin on the half-volley, and Morkel is short by a frame 423/10

3.3 this time they have got the marginal-looking decision go their way, and this time Australia review it. I think we will get an umpire's call on this one. This is pretty straight, stump to stump, and has straightened a touch after pitching in front of leg. This is actually pitched within and has straightened enough to be hitting. Beats the inside edge. Top decision from Dharmasena. I wonder if South Africa would have reviewed had this not been given originally? 7/1
29.3 and Philander hasn't gone missing on this flat pitch. He has his accuser here, and doesn't even react or give a send-off to Warner. Just coolly walks off towards his team-mates. And Warner, he has died by the sword he has lived by. Gets a wide length ball and drives, as he has been doing. This time, though, he gets a healthy edge to first slip to end the feline innings. The Easterly at it, with a bit of subtle movement here and there AB was the first one to go Philander, having dropped Warner last night 120/5
9.1 and he bowls a beauty first ball at his home ground. And Parnell has also become the first fast bowler to get a caught-behind on this wicket. Short of a length, on middle and leg, he has to play the angle, but it seams away to square him up and take the edge. AB takes it ankle high 41/2
9.3 Parnell is on fire. And he is behaving as if he has been doing this all his life. Cool. Chillin' like a villain. Marsh is gone. Full, swinging away, just outside off, Marsh plays with a slightly open face, gets the edge. And suddenly, like the buses, we have two 41/3
17.2 never mind the slowness. It has got South Africa huge wicket. This is a length ball, bowled at 130ks, Clarke is used to facing the quickness of the previous two quicks, and ends up driving in front of his body. Ends up lobbing this to short cover. I am going to give a healthy share of the credit for this wicket to Morne and Parnell who have made sure Clarke hasn't moved sufficiently forward 81/4

30.1 and Morkel finally gets a wicket. he could have had five by now. Goes round the stumps and bowls fast and short. Too much for Lyon to handle. He backs away to see if he can make room and do something with this. He is cramped up, and ends up playing this onto the stumps 128/6
50.2 it's a beaut from Morne, and South Africa have reviewed it. AB and Smith celebrate immediately, but Morne joins in pretty late. Smith doesn't consult anybody, and goes up straight. He is pretty sure there is an edge. This is on a length, outside off, holds its line, Smith drives, and I think there is a feather on the bat and a noise too, but the HotSpot doesn't register it. And only a slight spike on the snicko. Has Aleem seen enough to overturn this one? Yes, he has. He has given him. Disbelieving looks in the Australian balcony. A shake of the head from Steve Smith too 209/9
40.5 the middle stumps is flat. Steyn is pumped up. This is his first wicket, but what a beauty it is. Late inswing, Haddin plays an expansive drive, misreads the length as this is not quite a half-volley. The ball has time to move in, beats the drive, and crashes into the middle stump. What were you saying, Jean? 168/7

49.2 Duminy gets a wicket too. JP jou lekker ding. Follows up the century with a bonus wicket. Johnson plays for the turn, but he has hardly turned a door knob today. It pitches off, goes on with the arm, beats the inside edge, and knocks off the off peg 205/8
56.6 Morkel finally gets his man. Floats this up and wide, Harris goes for the drive, and gets a thick flying edge to second slip. Harris and Siddle rush off the field because they have bowl in 10 minutes 246/10

4.1 Johnson bursts through Smith's defence. Full and quick, 147ks, just outside off, angling in, Smith defends in front of his body, and edges it onto the stumps. Was it the expectation of the short delivery that did him in? He didn't move forward to defend this one 20/1
11.6 Siddle has got one. This should slow South Africa down. Short of a length, outside off, this holds its line a touch, he tries an adventurous punch, gets the edge through. The first caught-behind all match for an Aussie quick 42/2

25.5 Siddle strikes. The pitch is beginning to misbehave a little. Short of a length, outside off, lands on the seam, jumps away, holds its line, takes the shoulder of the bat through 112/3
36.6 finally a wicket for Australia. De Villiers tries to ramp this bouncer over the slips, but this ball has come on a little slower - at 143ks, mind you - and he ends up edging it through 167/4
56.6 Lyon gets another. De Kock follows a forward press with a rock-back, and then opens the face to send it straight to Clarke. All these can be forgiven because he is looking for quick runs 231/5

72.1 Rogers is gone. Run-outs from mid-off and mid-on have been crucial this summer in South Africa. Alviro Petersen, who is not playing this match, has done the job as the substitute. Rogers has pushed this to mid-off for a risky single, Petersen hits the stumps, and this one is really really tight. The bail has taken an eternity to come off, but does so a split-frame before Rogers makes it. Rogers gets a standing ovation for his effort, but he might have got too cheeky with this so as to put Siddle at the end of the part-time spinner 214/9

29.2 JP jou lekker ding. What a bowling change. Pushed in through, pitches middle and leg, straightens a little, beats the bat, which is looking to work it to leg. Illingworth has given it. Warner has reviewed it. The projection shows it to be clipping leg so the on-field decision stays 126/1
42.6 finally Doolan is gone. This was a freight train coming. He has been pushing loosely outside off for far too long. Morkel bowls in that channel outside off, gets it to reverse away, takes the edge, and Smith takes a superb low catch in front of him. Smith had moved up a step after that previous one didn't carry to him. Top fielding at first slip 152/2
43.6 Marsh has bagged a pair. Who would have thought he scored a sensational hundred last match? Excellent ball given Marsh's state of mind after the first-innings duck, but in effect Marsh has missed a leg-stump half-volley because he is playing too square. The ball is swinging a touch, enough, to pitch within the stumps and hit then hit them 153/3
48.4 what a catch. Faf du Plessis has pulled off a stunner standing so close to the stumps at second slip. You have to acknowledge first of all that this slip cordon is very close here. Steyn gets this to swing away after the inswinger, takes the edge, which is always dying, but du Plessis takes the catch when falling forward. Sweet as. Steyn is absolutely thrilled with this 156/4
48.5 ... and he is already the old batsman. Steyn is on absolute fire. Like the buses, he has had to wait, but he has now got two in a row. Inswinger followed by outswinger to take the edge followed by the inswinger to trap him lbw. Too good for a new batsman. Steyn fires this in, just outside off, on a length, and reverses in to beat the bat and hit him plumb in front. Two golden ducks in the innings 156/5
52.6 repeat of the first-innings dismissal. What an absolute gem from Steyn. It is the dip that revere swing comes with and the late swing that does Haddin in. It falls alarmingly for Haddin, who is nowhere near the pitch of the ball, and then it moves in to beat the inside edge and flatten the middle stump. An angry Dale is not good for batting sides 166/6
59.1 another review. Smith is desperate for wickets tonight. This is a better shout than the previous one, though. Short of a length, middle and leg, moves back in, hits him in front, and while the umpire thinks it is headed too far down leg, this is hitting the top of leg. Finally Smith gets a review right. Forty-two minutes to take three wickets to end this one tonight 197/7
68.6 and Steyn thinks this can be finished off tonight. This one nips back in from just outside off, nips back sharply, beats the fighting bat of Harris, hits him in front of leg. The umpire takes a long time before raising his finger. Harris reviews it. The projector shows it to be hitting the top and outer corner of the leg stump. It stays with the umpire 209/8

73.4 Elgar ends it. He started the comeback with a gritty innings. He ends it with a spectacular offbreak to trap him lbw. This pitches leg, turns away sharply, Lyon is deep in the crease, and he is gone. By the way, it might have looked plumb, but Lyon got an outside edge onto it. No reviews left, though, How cruel. Also, I am not sure if it was caught off the pad. If it was, it is still out 216/10
