9.25pm Bangladesh come close again but can't go all the way. Sri Lanka were in deep trouble at 67 for 8 after they were put in to bat, struggling to get to 100, but an unbeaten fifty from Thisara Perera charged them to a respectable 180. Bangladesh started very well with the help of Shamsur and Mominul but once the former was run out, Senanayake built a lot of pressure and took two quick wickets which were followed by the remaining four wickets and SL snatched a victory from the hosts. A 13-run win puts SL in the lead of the three-match series.

Tarik: "67 was required with 8 wickets left when Shamsur was dismissed. Srilanka was 67 when the 8th wicket fell. And now all out for 167. The number 67 played a crucial role today!"

Time for the presentation:

Mushfiqur Rahim: Those catches were important and Thisara Perera attacked very well later. 180 was chasable and we lost early wickets but Shamsur and Mominul batted well initially. In the last T20 also we had a chance to win and it happened today again, so we need to find out what to do to win because the second ODI is only two days away. Perera batted bell with Senanayake, silly run outs and catches made the difference. We can't play 30 overs really well and let off in the later 20 matches. We need to play well throughout the game.

Angelo Mathews: Credit goes to Bangladesh, the way they bowled and took some brilliant wickets. Thisara batted very positively with Senanayake and took us forward. Dropped catches happen in the game, it was a good effort from them and nothing can be taken away from their effort. Wicket by wicket we slowly fought back and the way our bowlers went about the game, amazing performance form the team. Bangladesh is a strong team, especially at home, we have to improve our game.

Thisara Perera is the Man of the Match: Sachithra and I did very well for us after losing eight wickets. 180 was chasable and they were batting well, but we did well to dismiss them. Everyone supported each other very well and it was a good teamwork.

That's all we have for you today, thanks for joining us and for all the feedback during the rain and throughout this exciting match. Join us again for the second ODI, till then it's goodbye form Vishal. Goodbye!

Mathews to Rubel Hossain, OUT, there's a mix-up and it's all over for Bangladesh! Rubel clipped the ball to midwicket and they set off for a single but Rubel hesitated and it was too late by then. Al-Amin had crossed him and Rubel ran towards the non-striker's end but Mathews had taken the bails off by then
