Four debutants in the game, and no Shakib Al Hasan, but Bangladesh were never in any trouble, especially after West Indies opening partnership was broken.
The shot selection of some of the West Indies batsmen will be questioned, and the general intensity was not at the level the visitors will want. The bowling too was lacklustre, but with too many deliveries down the leg-side and plenty short and wide.
A terrific win for Bangladesh, who have often been in control of games for brief spells before letting it slip. There were no slips today, as Bangladesh coasted to victory with little sign of any hiccup. The packed house at Khulna couldn't have asked for anything more.
Presentation ceremony
Darren Sammy: "We just didn't execute today, there is no sense of panic in the dressing room. There are four games to go, I am sure we can come back. We didn't bat as well as we can, some of the guys got starts but didn't go on. Our bowling was not as good as it could have been. Credit to Bangladesh, they had a plan, they stuck to it, and they deserved to win."
Mushfiqur Rahim: "We dedicate our win to Islam Rana and our countrymen who died in the recent fire. Our quicks set the platform, the spinners backed them up. The Test there was a couple of individual performances but not combined. Today we played as a team, so I am happy. We know they will come back hard in the next match, we are ready for them."
Sohag Gazi is the Man of the Match, on debut.
