Scorer: Sanjay Murari | Commentator: Alan Gardner

7pm: Time for the presentations. West Indies captain, Darren Sammy: "We didn't get the runs. It was a pretty good wicket and Ian Bell played a good innings but we backed ourselves to get the runs. No one went on like Bell, unfortunately. In 2007 we lost the first game at Lord's very badly but we came back to win the series 2-1 so we hope we can come back again. Dwayne Smith played very well in the IPL and his form has continued. Hopefully Chris Gayle will be fit for Tuesday but we will assess all the guys before then."

England captain, Alastair Cook: "It was a really good performance from the lads, Ian at the top of the order did really well, he and Trotty played very well. It was a fantastic knock from Ian and close to 300 is hard to chase on any ground. Being hyper-critical we could have got a few more runs and Smith played well at the start for them but Bresnan took quick wickets and we got back into it."

Man of the Match, Ian Bell: "I really enjoyed it, it was nice to go out there and play some shots at the top of the order. Nerves can be a good thing, some butterflies in the stomach, I've played well in the Tests and wanted to continue that. This is a big ground, so if you can't hit fours and sixes, you have to runs the ones and twos. I've been playing good cricket in Tests, I've got some confidence from that and it's good to transfer it over. The bowlers again did fantastically and it was a really good effort to get them out for that score."

Right, that's us signing off for today. Gnasher's match report is in and there'll be more content up on the series hompage shortly. We'll be back in action for the second ODI from The Oval on Tuesday. Hope to see you then ...

Bresnan's fourth wicket completes a 114-run win for England, which puts them 1-0 up in the three-match series. We've said it before but Alastair Cook's side are certainly good in English conditions - which, being English, is handy. West Indies' batting line-up had been rightly lauded before the series but, after a renaissance innings from comeback kid Ian Bell, the home bowlers carried the day. What sort of havoc Chris Gayle might have caused we can only wonder at ...

And at roughly the same moment that West Indies finally succumbed in Southampton, Pakistan completed their collapse in Colombo. Something about a race to the bottom springs to mind.

Bresnan to Narine, OUT, and there she blows, Narine nicks off and the West Indies schooner is finally scuttled. Bresnan put it on a good length, the batsman played at it indeterminately and Kieswetter plunged to his left to grasp the catch
