- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR26.5 caught at cover! After four deliveries that troubled Smith, Martin pitched one full and wide outside off stump, Smith went after it, playing a firm drive but not middling it. He hit it flat and straight to Rob Nicol at cover 86/29.2 a huge yell for lbw but Aleem Dar says not out. Ross Taylor has asked for a review. The ball was full and pitched in line, Petersen moved his front foot across and tried to drive on the leg side, he missed and got hit pretty low on the front pad. Doesn't look like an inside edge either, nothing on replays. That's hitting the middle of middle. Aleem Dar changes his not-out decision. Boult's broken through. 34/141.4 caught at slip, Amla's gone, but the umpire is checking to see if it is a no-ball, it isn't, Vettori's foot is fine. Amla went back to cut but the ball bounced a bit more and he edged it with the top of his bat. The ball looped to Taylor at first slip, a relatively easy catch 156/528.1 Martin's produced a ripper, and Taylor's taken a stunner to dismiss Kallis for a duck. Martin got the ball to rise off a good length around off stump and move away just a little, it squared Kallis up in his crease and he prodded at it. The ball hit the outside edge high on the bat and flew quickly to Taylor at first slip, he had to dive to his left to take the catch 90/328.2 lbw! Martin's on fire and on a hat-trick, New Zealand are celebrating while de Villiers thinks about a review. He has asked for it. Martin nipped the ball back into the right-hander from outside off and de Villiers was caught on the crease as he tried to play across the line. The ball hit him around the knee roll and that's plumb. 90/464.6 caught at point! But the umpire is checking Bracewell's front foot, he's landed just behind the line. Just. The ball was not that full but there was width outside off. Rudolph decided to attack it and drive hard away from his body. He ended up spooning it straight to Boult at point 222/943.1 I think Boucher's been run out! But we need to wait for replays. He's short by a few inches. Rudolph dabbed the ball towards backward point and set off, Bracewell swooped on the ball quickly by running to his right - he is a swift mover for a big man - picked up with one hand, and fired the throw accurately to van Wyk, who broke the stumps neatly 161/648.2 edged, and Guptill's dropped it! But Taylor's caught it! I think they are checking the front foot for the no-ball again but Bracewell is okay this time. The ball was short of a length outside off and Steyn pushed at it from the crease, he got a thick outside edge to second slip, where Guptill fumbled the catch. It went to him at head height and burst through his fingers. The ball lobbed up for Taylor at first slip who dived behind Guptill and caught the rebound. In fact, Taylor fumbled his first attempt as well, but recovered to catch it on the second take 179/763.6 caught at gully! The ball was short and wide outside off, nothing special, there to be hit. Philander went hard at it, slashing his bat, edging the ball to gully where Williamson held a sharp catch at head height 214/868.2 there's been a run out and South Africa are all out. It was another full ball on middle and leg stump, Tahir flicked it off his pads through midwicket and they ran an easy two. They then wanted a third, which was risky. Vettori chased the ball across a slow outfield and threw the ball back to the bowler, who broke the stumps and beat Tahir's dive 238/10Extras2 (lb 1, nb 1)TOTAL238 all out (68.2 Overs, RR: 3.48, 307 minutes)Fall of wickets: 1-34 (Alviro Petersen, 9.2 ov), 2-86 (Graeme Smith, 26.5 ov), 3-90 (Jacques Kallis, 28.1 ov), 4-90 (AB de Villiers, 28.2 ov), 5-156 (Hashim Amla, 41.4 ov), 6-161 (Mark Boucher, 43.1 ov), 7-179 (Dale Steyn, 48.2 ov), 8-214 (Vernon Philander, 63.6 ov), 9-222 (Jacques Rudolph, 64.6 ov), 10-238 (Imran Tahir, 68.2 ov)

- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR3.2 caught at first slip! Nicol prods at a ball that pitches on a good length, bounces a bit more and straightens off the surface. He edges it high on his bat and it carries comfortably to Smith 7/116.5 bowled him! Guptill has not survived his first ball after lunch. He pushed forward at a length ball outside off, with his bat a little away from his body. The ball went through that gap off the inside edge and crashed into middle and leg. Guptill was off balance as he played that ball, his front foot hadn't landed 41/238.1 caught and bowled! And look at Tahir celebrate! McCullum's lost his composure and tried to sweep Tahir, he got a top edge towards midwicket, and Tahir ran across to take the catch himself. There was a deep square leg for that shot as well 106/341.4 caught behind! Taylor's played a horrible shot. The short of a length ball was wide outside off stump, it was perhaps there to be cut but Taylor didn't move his feet to get closer to the ball. He ended up reaching far away from his body and nicked it to Boucher 116/449.6 caught behind! The ball was pitched short of a length just outside off stump and it held its line, Williamson tried to punch off the back foot and got the outside edge through to Boucher 135/567.3 caught and bowled! A strange dismissal. The ball was short of a length outside off, Vettori was on the back foot preparing to play a horizontal bat shot - a pull. And then he decided not to. And didn't lower his bat. The ball thudded into the bat and lobbed up off it. Kallis had to accelerate during his follow through, sprint forward, dive and tumble while taking a low catch 188/681.2 edged and taken! Philander keeps it on a good length just outside off stump, van Wyk is caught in his crease and pokes at the ball as it leaves him off the pitch, he didn't move his feet and the outside edge is taken low at first slip. Smith stooped forward and just got his fingers under the ball, van Wyk walks off, and then hears boos from the crowd who think the catch isn't clean, and stops. And then he continues walking. It was clean. 229/784.6 bowled him! That's the Steyn trademark. The fast ball on a good length, pitching on leg and middle and bending towards off. Bracewell is caught on the crease and defends down the wrong line. The ball screams past the outside edge and hits off stump. That delivery has accounted for far more illustrious batsmen. 239/981.4 that's a poor shot from Southee and he's been caught at first slip by Smith as well. He simply wafted away from his body at a good length ball that seamed away from him and edged it at a comfortable height. No fight at all from him. Tame. 229/888.2 caught at short leg, New Zealand have been dismissed for 273. Martin pushed off the back foot at a short of a length ball with a slightly closed face, he played it in the air to Amla, who took a sharp catch 273/10Extras3 (lb 3)TOTAL273 all out (88.2 Overs, RR: 3.09, 370 minutes)Fall of wickets: 1-7 (Rob Nicol, 3.2 ov), 2-41 (Martin Guptill, 16.5 ov), 3-106 (Brendon McCullum, 38.1 ov), 4-116 (Ross Taylor, 41.4 ov), 5-135 (Kane Williamson, 49.6 ov), 6-188 (Daniel Vettori, 67.3 ov), 7-229 (Kruger van Wyk, 81.2 ov), 8-229 (Tim Southee, 81.4 ov), 9-239 (Doug Bracewell, 84.6 ov), 10-273 (Chris Martin, 88.2 ov)

- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR11.2 he's been caught at mid-off. Once again Petersen reached forward to drive a good length ball on the up, he was playing away from his body and did not time it well. He ended up hitting it flat and Southee moved to his left and slid as he held the catch 45/181.1 Takes out Graeme Smith! Short of a good length on the off, appeared to hold its line, Smith, on the back foot, pushed at it away from his body and got an inside edge onto the stumps 247/311.6 edged and Guptill's caught a blinder at second slip. Has that carried? The umpires are conferring and going up to the TV umpire. Bracewell's front foot is okay as he delivers a good length ball outside off, Amla pushes away from his body on the front foot, and edges it low between second and third slip. The fielder at third slip dived to his left but the ball was too far away. Guptill dived to his right, and caught the ball with one hand, centimetres off the ground. It's a very low catch but it looks clean, in my opinion, as clean as such low catches can look on television replays. Nicol diving from third slip to his left obscured what would have been one of the best views 47/297.3 caught, a softish dismissal but it doesn't matter for New Zealand, they'll be glad to see the back of Kallis, pitched up on the pads, a juicy delivery there for being dispatched but Kallis didn't time it all too well and played it uppishly, straight into the hands of an alert midwicket 283/4117.2 AB holes out, slog-sweep but not timed as well, came off the bottom of the bat and Brendon McCullum at deep midwicket takes it comfortably 353/5Extras12 (b 2, lb 6, nb 3, w 1)TOTAL435/5d (140 Overs, RR: 3.1, 614 minutes)Fall of wickets: 1-45 (Alviro Petersen, 11.2 ov), 2-47 (Hashim Amla, 11.6 ov), 3-247 (Graeme Smith, 81.1 ov), 4-283 (Jacques Kallis, 97.3 ov), 5-353 (AB de Villiers, 117.2 ov)

- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR20.1 What a tame dismissal, Nicol will be shattered, a loopy, juicy full toss on leg stump and it's struck straight to Smith at mid-on, silence around the ground, Nicol walks back dejectedly, he had just begun to grow confident 55/27.6 Guptill has to go, it was Nicol who had been having problems outside off but his partner is the one who falls first, lands on a good length and moves away just a hint, making the batsman play, was close to the off stump, Guptill obliged and got a thick edge, and AB at second slip made no mistake 16/1Extras6 (lb 2, nb 2, w 2)TOTAL137/2 (41 Overs, RR: 3.34, 186 minutes)Fall of wickets: 1-16 (Martin Guptill, 7.6 ov), 2-55 (Rob Nicol, 20.1 ov)

South Africa tour of New Zealand 2011-12 News
Williamson's a star in the making
His second century drew praise from the likes of Neil Harvey and Barry Richards. New Zealand will be served well if he keeps it going
Strauss and Smith search for runs
England's captain hasn't scored a Test century in his last 23 innings, while South Africa's has struggled in the first innings in his last 12 Tests
South Africa find performances from all corners
Rather than just looking to one or two individuals to make the difference, the side is concentrating on attacking as a team, with little emphasis on which individual is grabbing the headlines
Taylor was ready to bat with broken hand
Ross Taylor, the New Zealand captain, has said he would have come out to bat despite a broken arm to help save the third Test against South Africa in Wellington
Come rain or shine
