- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR15.6 Starc has a first wicket, and he couldn't have got a more explosive pair of names on the dismissal than McCullum and Warner! Short of a length again, and that natural angle and seam brings it back into McCullum, who can't resist the urge to cut, nay shred, the short ball even if it isn't wide enough. He ends up carving it straight to Warner at point and he's on his way. 56/210.5 the Aussies have struck, but it is Guptill who has fallen to an indiscretion outside off. 144 kph, classing seamer's dismissal, set up by a driving length ball a yard or so outside off. Guptill was drawn into the drive, it wasn't full enough for him to reach the pitch, and hence when it moved away it took the edge. Straight into Haddin's mitts. 44/120.6 and gone. This was almost inevitable with that shuffle and nudge routine. Williamson again gets too far across the stumps mindful of Lyon's smart spin and drift. This one breaks in and bounces extra towards the hips again, and since he is so far across, Williamson can't keep the nudge down, and works it onto the thigh. He pops it amiably towards Khawaja, who happily makes up for the miss. 78/323.4 New Zealand, what are you doing! Taylor gives Pattinson his first Test scalp and stumps are in a mess. Simple three-card bluff this, after landing the last two back of a length, Pattison goes really full outside off now and asks Taylor if he fancies a swing five minutes before lunch. Taylor takes him on, but he didn't get into the best position for a square drive. The front foot was in the next zip code as he drove wide, wide away from his body. Inside-edged it onto the furniture. 93/425.6 didn't Jesse have enough for lunch? He's already on his way back for more. The very epitome of a hare-brained shot. Short, miles wide outside off and he doesn't bother getting across for the cut. Just reaches out and smashes it in the air, the balance all awry, straight to gully. We have seen some poor shots today, and by the looks of it there's more to come. 96/568.6 Suicide! Vettori has ended his stay. The bowlers couldn't get him, but he's run himself out. He's gutted. He was thinking of the ton there, pushed a full ball straight to Hussey at mid-off and set off. That went too quickly to Hussey, who pounced on it and let rip in one fluid motion. The stumps were messed up before Vettori could dive in. He buries his head into the grass. He knows it. Need a crane to get him out of there. Tragedy! 254/669.5 and that's the end of that. Young's come and gone in a flash. Siddle continues to hit that lovely length outside off and seam it away. This time Young jabs at it with hard hands and it has the legs to carry easily into Clarke's hands in the slips. 256/774.6 how well has Lyon bowled on his first trip to this ground? Bracewell is gone, playing for the spin against a deceptive over-spinner and that's an 18-ball duck. Lyon tossed this up outside off and it goes on straight to skim the outside edge, straight into first slip's hand. 259/878.5 and that's the end of Southee's hand. He skates out again and looks to take Lyon downtown, but mishits the loft. Hussey comes in from long-on on gobbles it. And then he shines the ball as he sprints in to celebrate with his mates! Mr. Cricket! 290/982.5 Martin's gone, but after he's got one run more in his latest innings than Don Bradman did. Classical offspinner's dismissal from a classical offspinner. Lyon tosses it up and spins it in sharply, drawing Marto forward on the push-drive and it easily finds the bat-pad gap. 295/10Extras16 (b 9, lb 1, nb 3, w 3)TOTAL295 all out (82.5 Overs, RR: 3.56, 365 minutes)Fall of wickets: 1-44 (Martin Guptill, 10.5 ov), 2-56 (Brendon McCullum, 15.6 ov), 3-78 (Kane Williamson, 20.6 ov), 4-93 (Ross Taylor, 23.4 ov), 5-96 (Jesse Ryder, 25.6 ov), 6-254 (Daniel Vettori, 68.6 ov), 7-256 (Reece Young, 69.5 ov), 8-259 (Doug Bracewell, 74.6 ov), 9-290 (Tim Southee, 78.5 ov), 10-295 (Chris Martin, 82.5 ov)

- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR1.1 Warner's gone and it is New Zealand's morning fair and square. Southee starts off with a bustling short ball from over the stumps, angling across at an uncomfortable angle. Stunningly well-directed bouncer that, but not the best example of how to play one either. Warner didn't seem keen on dropping the wrists. Not sure what he was trying to do. He was swaying back, with the hands in front of the chest, and the ball just kept coming at it. It took the glove and went straight into Young's bigger gloves. 3/16.1 gotcha with a ripper and a superb catch! Hughes has to go now. Martin sprints in and delivers on a perfect length, but it is almost outside leg. It then hits the seam and darts across, opening up Hughes and catching him completely out of balance as he looks to defend. It moved so much, it took the outside edge and flew low to gully. Guptill is among the best there, he dives forward and plucks it inches above the turf. 25/227.1 Khawaja is gone, I think! NZ have got a run out! Ponting jumps and nudges a short ball to the leg side, and speeds off. Khawaja seemed to take a while to react. Williamson was the personification of human light there. He charged in from midwicket, swooped on it, went sliding on his belly and under-armed the stumps down. The ball beat Khawaja's dive easy. Ponting's error completely, there was no need for that risky run first ball after tea. 91/352.4 Ponting's knock has ended, trapped in front by Chris Martin. This one swung in and landed on middle and was moving towards leg, Ponting walked across a hint and tried to drive that through the on-side, towards midwicket, but missed. It struck him in line, and Aleem Dar raised his finger as Martin went up. Ponting called for a review, and replays showed the ball would have clipped leg stump. It was the umpire's call, and Dar's decision was upheld. 177/4105.4 Clarke goes! Short ball from Martin and you wouldn't think he'd get out to this one but he did, he'd been pretty good at playing the pull through this innings but he top-edged this one while targeting the deep square leg area, landed safely in the hands of Tim Southee who was waiting calmly behind square in the deep 345/670.1 Vettori strikes with a wicket at the other end, he's done this numerous times, tossed up and gets it to turn in with a bit of extra bounce, Hussey lurched forward to defend, got an inside edge onto his pads and was caught at short leg by Ryder 237/5126.6 Haddin holes out, that was well struck but didn't go the distance, came down the track, took it from a length and struck that flat but straight into the hands of Chris Martin at long-on where he slides to his right and holds on 418/9106.5 Vettori strikes, removes Siddle, drifted in from round the wicket and turned away, Siddle stabbed at it, got a thick edge and Rosco made no mistake at slip, can New Zealand sneak back in? 345/7115.4 Bracewell gets one, finally, someone took his catch, it was Rosco at first slip, short and wide, Pattinson went for a cut and edged it straight to slip. Relief for Bracewell 374/8129.2 Australia have been bowled out, that was pitched fuller and Lyon drove it straight to extra cover where Dean Brownlie dived forward and took a good low catch 427/10Extras15 (lb 6, nb 6, w 3)TOTAL427 all out (129.2 Overs, RR: 3.3, 603 minutes)Fall of wickets: 1-3 (David Warner, 1.1 ov), 2-25 (Phillip Hughes, 6.1 ov), 3-91 (Usman Khawaja, 27.1 ov), 4-177 (Ricky Ponting, 52.4 ov), 5-237 (Michael Hussey, 70.1 ov), 6-345 (Michael Clarke, 105.4 ov), 7-345 (Peter Siddle, 106.5 ov), 8-374 (James Pattinson, 115.4 ov), 9-418 (Brad Haddin, 126.6 ov), 10-427 (Nathan Lyon, 129.2 ov)

- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR8.2 didn't take too long for Australia to strike this morning! Pattinson was aiming for the body, Guptill couldn't fend it off properly, was on the ribs and the ball lobs off the top half of the bat and Khawaja takes it easily at short leg 17/26.1 Bazza goes! Pattinson bowled that from slightly wide of the crease and got it to nip away from short of a good length, McCullum moved slightly across and tried to play that with soft hands but the pace and bounce was too good for the ball to drop down, edged it straight into the hands of second slip, Ponting took it just in front of his head, Australia on top 10/112.3 The procession continues! Pattinson takes five on debut, he pitches it up outside off and induces the drive, Bracewell's intentions were right but he failed to drive through the line, thin edge through to Haddin 28/58.4 what a start so far for Pattinson! Better still he has sent back two specialist batsmen, angles this from outside off and gets it to shape inwards, induces Williamson to drive at it, thick outside edge and Ponting judges it well to his right at second slip 17/38.5 would you believe it he's on a hat-trick! Boy what's happening to New Zealand this morning! Pitched up outside the off stump, he moved across and had a poke at it, got the bottom half of the bat and Haddin takes it easily 17/421.2 well I guess I spoke too soon! Tossed up outside off, quite generous with the flight, Ryder wanted to take him on straight away by coming down the pitch, scoops it but can't beat mid-off, Hussey cups it over his head 69/640.6 that's exactly what I was saying - a short ball that makes him play, outside the off stump and he's tempted into the upper cut, he ends up lobbing it tamely towards point where Warner runs across and takes the catch easily, the umpires check to see if it was a no ball but it was legal 123/839.4 Australia sneak in another just before lunch! Soft dismissal, he tries to steer it down to third man, risky proposition considering there was a slip in place, the ball bounced a bit more than he expected, Clarke takes it at deep first slip. Clarke deserves credit for the mainly because he stationed himself deep although Haddin was upto the stumps 121/745.4 tosses it up and Southee can't resist a slog, connects but doesn't get the distance to clear deep midwicket, Warner's there and he runs and takes it well falling to his right 141/949.4 softest of dismissals! Catching practice for Starc, he gets forward and tamely lobs it to mid-off, won't come easier than that 150/10Extras21 (lb 15, nb 4, w 2)TOTAL150 all out (49.4 Overs, RR: 3.02, 223 minutes)Fall of wickets: 1-10 (Brendon McCullum, 6.1 ov), 2-17 (Martin Guptill, 8.2 ov), 3-17 (Kane Williamson, 8.4 ov), 4-17 (Ross Taylor, 8.5 ov), 5-28 (Doug Bracewell, 12.3 ov), 6-69 (Jesse Ryder, 21.2 ov), 7-121 (Daniel Vettori, 39.4 ov), 8-123 (Dean Brownlie, 40.6 ov), 9-141 (Tim Southee, 45.4 ov), 10-150 (Chris Martin, 49.4 ov)

- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR1.2 he gets him this time! Seems a bit farcical here, poor shot again from Hughes, it was shaping away and perhaps better off left alone, he lashes at it and he's taken at gully 11/1Extras0TOTAL19/1 (2.2 Overs, RR: 8.14, 12 minutes)Fall of wickets: 1-11 (Phillip Hughes, 1.2 ov)
