The way Rohit and Kohli batted would suggest that this was a cakewalk but it wasn't so. Things could have been tougher for India had West Indies applied the pressure, perhaps attacked a bit more. The field was pushed back for the part-timers and it seemed like they were waiting for India to throw it away and panic. The Kohli-Rohit stand bodes well for India. It's ironic that these two are competing for the No.6 slot in Tests.
Had it not been for Rampaul's freaky 86 at No.10, this match would have been hopelessly one-sided. The crowd had a full game and certainly got their money's worth. One worry for India - the inability to bowl yorkers and finish things off with the ball when the opposition is beaten and down. Wasim and Waqar were experts at this.
Here's the presentation:
Sammy: That last-wicket stand gave us a lot of inspiration. It shows the fight in this team. We just can't get over the line though. Sooner rather than later we can get that final push. We'll keep our head up and come strongly at the Indians again. Roach's had a tough six months with catches being dropped off him."
Sehwag: Our bowlers did fantastically with the new ball. It was an off day for Ashwin but Jadeja bowled well. Great innings by Rampaul. The day belongs to him. I tried all combinations to get him out. Rohit and Virat batted very maturely."
Kohli is the Man of the Match: Two centuries in two games at this venue but the pitches were different. This one needed more hard work. People love cricket here and they come out in thousands. Always great to bat with Rohit, we can learn to build partnerships. Always a pleasure to watch him bat. Not much of dew surprisingly. It was seaming around early on. I know the feeling when you go through a bad patch I hope to extend this good form."
That's it from us here. Thanks very much for joining us. The cricket never stops. We'll see you again very soon. Cheers.
The century will elude Rohit
