This is the fourth win in seven tournament finals under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. . The seamers were fantastic: The ball moved around under the lights and all the seamers exploited the conditions. The Sri Lankan top order was found wanting tonight. .
The players from both teams shake hands. Please hang on for the quotes from the post-match ceremony.
Karthick Santhanam: "Really glad that India finally managed to put one across Sri Lanka in a final. Without taking anything away from Indian seamers, I feel there is a dearth of technically sound batsmen who could play in swinging conditions in limited overs cricket world over."
Dinesh karthik is the man of the match: "We are very happy. We have won this after 15 years. I was in Kuwait with my parents when I got the call. Virat came in and started to bat well. I got out to a ball which was easy to hit I guess. Today we played better than them."
Sanga: "The difference was between in the first 15 overs - the way we bowled and the way they bowled. We lost wickets... It was a fresh wicket. I thought bit more application from the batsmen, we could have got through the first 15 overs. We were the best team coming into the final but India played well today. The Indian bowlers hit the areas really well, bowled good line and lengths and let the pitch do the rest. Unfortunately we succumbed. Quite disappointing not to win in front of the home crowd. India played really well and we weren't up to the mark today."
Dhoni: "The guys put in a lot of effort in terms of fitness and skill. This is a ideal reflection of that. Nice to win the Asia cup. We were happy to get 270 runs. We wanted to get DIlshan out quickly and the bowlers bowled really well. Zaheer .. Nehra. Once you are in a final and if you dont' win then what you did before that (in the tournament) doesn't matter. I expected that pitch will do a bit later. I know my bowlers. So i decided to bat. On his five dismissals: Thanks to the bowlers. They created the opportunities. "
Man of the series is Shahid Afridi Rameez Raja collects it on his behalf.
And with that Dhoni lifts the cup and poses with his team-mates.
That's it from us. Good bye and good luck!
