Test Match ends. Quite an awful pitch this. There is no chance of a result on this. Ever. South Africa have declared and the teams have agreed to call it off. South Africa lead the series 1-0. Please hang on for the quotes from the post-match ceremony.
SMith : "The wicket was pretty placid. Hard toil for the bowlers. Hopefully we can have a good five days in Barbados. This wasn't an exciting surface to play Test cricket on. hopefully Barbados will have some thing more in it. Our tactics yesterday was .. we being 1-0 up it was up to West Indies to make the play . They didn't. Kallis has one of the most valuable players to have ever played the game. It's incredible what he has been able to achieve. And Boucher 500 dismissals. They are two great stalwarts of South African cricket."
Gayle: "I am very happy. Our batting was struggling. To get 500 runs was a commendable performance. Shiv.. Nash ... Credit must also go to the bowlers who tried to create some opportunities here. As for yesterday, I am satisfied. If you look at their plan, the left-armer was bowling well outside leg stump. Ravi Rampaul won't be with us for the next Test. He has a side strain. We have to get some runs on board and then give it to the bowlers."
Man of the Match is Chanderpaul: "Obviously happy to get some. was struggling in the last few Tests. There weren't self-doubts. I have been getting starts; i haven't been able to carry on. I am glad I did it here. It's always difiicult when you have an attack like South Africa. Morne can get good bounce, Steyn bowls well. you always have to be on the look out. Yesterday morning, they came hard at us. We needed to make sure we batted well and they couldn't come back."
That's it from us. Thanks for logging on. See you at the next Test. Now where is that beer ...
