9.2 timber! Swann isn't afraid to toss it up but this time he puts a lot more pace on the ball, Gayle tries to repeat the loft over long-on but plays all around it and the ball clips the pad slightly and crashes onto the stumps 44/3
1.6 he fires it straight and quick, Simmons gets right across his stumps to work it to the on side but he's beaten for pace, the ball catches him plumb in front of middle and off 2/1
3.2 Broad's in the act again, he hits a good length outside off and gives Sarwan just a hint of width to go for the off-side punch, he obliges but manages a thin outside edge to the keeper, easy decision for umpire Asoka de Silva 7/2
22.2 and West Indies lose a wicket against the run of play, Chanderpaul goes for an ambitious pull off a delivery which wasn't that short, the top edge swirls in the air for a while and lands safely in Strauss's palms at short third man 107/4
27.3 through the gate! He takes a bit of pace off the ball and gets it to nip back in slightly off the pitch, Bravo leaves a big gap between bat and pad on the drive and the ball crashes on to the off and middle stumps 128/5
29.3 he lands it on middle and leg and the ball goes through with the line, Ramdin is trapped at the crease and expects it to bounce a lot more but the ball skids through and traps him right in front, easy one for de Silva 131/6
35.1 I tell you for a few seconds I thought I was looking at an old replay! Collingwood fires it full and on the stumps and Pollard has a wild and blind swing at it, misses it completely and the stumps are disturbed, the drinks break has halted West Indies' ambitions of a recovery 150/8
30.4 it gets worse for the West Indies, Taylor gets forward and pushes it inside out to short mid-off and sets off for a run which was never there, Strauss fires the throw to the keeper and Taylor turns around in desperation and he's a long way out 134/7

36.3 Benn goes hell for leather, he shapes to whack it over the on side but mishits it to midwicket, Bopara runs across and falls on the practice pitch as he takes the catch 153/9
38.3 he expectedly bangs it in short and Rampaul for the second ball in succession takes his eye off and doesn't evade it properly, the ball lobs off his glove and goes to Swann at slip, umpire Hartley raises the finger 160/10

6.4 three men converge and thankfully someone takes it, short of a length, Strauss tries to nudge it to the on side but gets a thick top edge, the bowler, backward point and Sammy from the slips rush towards it but Sammy hangs on 31/1
20.3 the swing beats him, the ball swerves in and lands just outside the line of the offstump, holds its line and hits him in front of the legstump as he tries to flick it, umpire de Silva is convinced 81/3
13.3 the bowling change works! Prior is cramped for a bit of room as he tries to run it down to third man, the ball clips the top half of the bat and Gayle takes it on the second attempt at wide slip 61/2
34.2 very timely run out I must say, Collingwood turns it to point and they go ahead with the run, bit of confusion and Shah was ball-watching, Pollard gets his aim right and Shah was nowhere in the picture 157/4

Match Notes

  • Planning, the Windies way

Chris Gayle's stated lack of interest in the traditional form of the game has obviously been adopted as the team mantra

  • Collingwood stars in comfortable win

England made easy work of a shambolic West Indies side as they coasted to a six-wicket victory at Bristol. A change of format and having the sun on their backs did nothing to improve the visitors' performance

  • England v West Indies, 2nd ODI, Bristol

Match home for the second ODI between England and West Indies at Bristol

  • Strauss calm over injuries

Andrew Strauss has admitted that the injuries to Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen are not ideal, but he isn't fretting about their availability for the Ashes
