5.6 Southee has struck again and Australia have lost their openers, he lands it on a good length outside the off stump and the seam really rotates, Katich pokes at it away from the body and the thick edge is taken by McCullum 22/2

7.1 Ponting goes and Australia are in deep trouble! The extra bounce has Ponting all the sea, he bangs it short of a length on middle and gets it to move away late, Ponting is squared up as the ball rears up uncomfortably on his midriff, the ball lobs off the top of his bat and travels to How at second slip 23/3

33.4 Interesting decision, it didn't look very obvious at first, Martin lands it just outside the line of the off stump and gets it to come back in very slightly, he gets his front pad across, withdraws the stroke and pads it away, Martin appeals and Koertzen gives him the slow death, now it appeared to the naked eye that it was missing the off stump, however Hawkeye showed the ball just grazing the off stump 96/4

76.6 through the gate! Michael Clarke falls two short of a deserving century, Ryder gets one to skid through off a good length, the ball lands on the line of the offfstump and comes back in, Clarke leaves plenty of daylight between bat and pad and crashes on to the off and middle stumps, the pff stump is pushed back and that signals the end of Australia's innings at 214. 214/10

45.5 what a dramatic over! O'Brien pitches it just a shade outside off and gets Symonds to poke at it, the edge is taken and O'Brien is really pumped up in his celebration 132/5

49.1 O'Brien's on a roll! He pitches it on a good length outside off and tempts Watson to cut, he doesn't move his feet and lazily wafts at it, McCullum takes the edge low to his right, Watson had himself to blame for this 139/6

54.4 very intelligent bowling change indeed, Ryder pitches it up outside off and lures Haddin onto the expansive drive, the ball bounces more than he would have expected and the outside edge travels quickly to How at second slip who goes across to his left and takes it with both hands 152/7

It was a stunning delivery by Southee, after squaring up Lee the previous ball with an incoming ball he takes it away this time, forces a feeble outside edge and McCullum flings himself to his right and takes it one handed at the edge of his glove, Southee has four now 160/8

66.3 Dan's the Man of the Moment, he lands the arm ball outside off and the ball kicks up off a good length, Johnson had to play at it and the edge goes high to Taylor at first slip 183/9

5.1 what a start for Australia! Redmond caught out early, perhaps a loss of concentration, Clark pitches outside off and moves it away slightly, the ball kicks up a bot on Redmond and he hangs his bat out and edges to Ponting who dives to his right and cups it comfortably 7/1

14.4 Timber! Lee really bends his back there, he bowls it full and gets it to swing in, How shapes to drive but the ball just straightens and shaves the off stump, Lee set him up the previous delivery with a full ball at good pace, timely breakthrough for Australia 44/2

19.3 that's a giveaway but Australia will gleefully accept it, Watson angles it wide across the left hander and lands it on a fullish length, Ryder opts the wrong shot - the cut - and stays rooted to the crease, very easy take for Haddin this time, a good comeback for the keeper after dropping the same batsman earlier today. Wrong choice of shot, to sum it up 64/3

30.5 slow death by Koertzen and Lee strikes straight after lunch, it pitches just back of a length and skids through, Taylor shapes to play it to the on side but the ball doesn't bounce as much and angles towards the pads, it appears to hit him just in line with the legstump 108/5

20.6 Australia are really on top at the moment, he pitches it up on the offstump and draws McCullum forward, the ball moves away slightly, catches the outside edge and travels to Ponting at second slip, excellent delivery by Johnson 73/4

41.4 Watson gets this one to nip back in and skid through, Elliott goes for the drive but fails to cover the line, the ball clips bis pad first and then knocks the leg bail down, it all happened so quickly that Elliott didn't know he was bowled, he stood there for a couple of seconds and Doctrove had to point to the stumps, even Watson didn't know what happened and in fact he turned around to appeal 127/6

46.2 iron man is gone. Johnson pulls his length back a bit as Vettori comes forward in an attempt to drive it away square. Johnson, also slowed the pace as Vettori is well into the shot and ends up lobbing a catch to Symonds at point 143/7

46.6 the trap works as Johnson bowls a fuller delivery on the off and middle. Southee, has no other option but to poke at it. The resultant outside edge is taken by Symonds at backward point. Symonds had enough time to cup his hands to take the catch. No batting heroics from Southee 143/8

48.1 again the fuller length delivery works for the tail-ender as he bowls one on the off stump and it takes the outside edge to Michael Clarke at third slip and Johnson has two in two 149/9

0.1 what a start! That was a real snorter by Martin, comes over the wicket, he pitches it back of a length outside leg and moves away sharply, Hayden is caught off guard with that movement and the edge goes to McCullum, even a Matt Hayden is roaring form would have been squared up 0/1

8.2 what was Ponting trying to do? The ball pitches outside off pn a good length and moves away with the angle, Ponting tries to fetch that and play a front foot pull, gets a top edge to Redmond at short midwicket, he takes a look at the pitch before walking off, whatever it is that shot was unwarranted 40/2

8.6 I'm sorry but Hussey is very unlucky to be given the marching orders, O'Brien pitches it on a good length on middle and gets it to move away from the seam slightly, he withdraws the shot and the ball clips his pad before reaching the keeper, McCullum was super confident and Koertzen raised the finger, there was no bat involved at all though it was fairly close to the pad at the point of contact, his disappointment was justified, you have to feel for him 40/3

14.5 Redmond's the man of the moment, he effects a direct hit, Katich tucks it to square leg and sets off for a quick run, Clarke hesitates at first but goes through with it, Redmond has one stump to aim at and Clarke is just short of his ground, thr third umpire takes a look New Zealanders know he's gone, Clarke walks back fuming, a dive would have saved him 53/4

31.5 the second poor shot of the innings and New Zealand have made a vital breakthrough, Martin cleverly bangs it in short and forces Symonds to play at it, the ball comes in with the angle and he attempts a hook, easy take for the keeper 109/5

35.2 Martin strikes at the fag end of the day and Australia are pegged back further, he gets it to bend back in in the air, Watson gets a half stride forward and the ball strikes the pads in line with the leg stump, Doctrove raises the finger 115/6

50.2 what a ripper and a fantastic decision by the captain to bring himself on, he teases him with flight and lands it on the off stump, the ball goes through straight, just grazed the pad and hits the off stump, Haddin was all at sea there, classic spinner's dismissal 156/7

58.2 Lee wouldn't want to see a replay of that! The ball is floated on middle and off and comes in with the angle, he gets on the backfoot to defend, the ball deflects off his back leg and squeezes through the tiny gap between his legs and rolls on to his stumps 186/8

77.3 he goes for broke but fails to get the distance, Elliott bangs it in short, he tries to flat-bat him over mid-off but mistimes it and Vettori pedals backwards and takes it easily, that's a very useful 31 by Johnson 239/9

0.3 That's wicket No 300 for Lee! Superb delivery to bring it up, he pitches it up outside off and gets very late away movement, he shapes to drive and the outside edge flies to Ponting at second slip 1/1

14.6 it gets worse for New Zealand, Johnson pitches it just back of a length just a shade outside the line of the off stump, the ball moves in very late and catches Ryder on the forward prod, he fails to get behind the line and the ball hits him just in line with the offstump, Doctrove thinks about it for a few seconds and gives him out 40/3

52.1 Taylor goes and all the specialist batsmen and back in the pavilion, Johnson hits a full length outside off and gets it to move away with the angle, Taylor flays at it and the ball gets the toe edge of the bat 161/8

17.3 now was that really out? McCullum makes the mistake of padding up, the ball comes back in, McCullum shuffles across his stumps and pads up, Koertzen gives him the slow death. Now the ball pitches was outside the line of the offstump and comes back in sharply, Hawkeye reckons it would have just shaved the offstump 49/4

40.4 a wicket falls against the run of play, the ball swings in and lands on a fullish length, Flynn drives away from the body but is beaten for pace, the inside edge cannons on to the offstump 133/5

50.4 almost identical to the first-innings dismissal, Johnson pitches it up outside off and it draws him in to the square drive, he doesn't go through with the shot properly and takes his left hand off the handle and tamely scoops it to Symonds at cover point who plucks it one-handed, he has to leap to take the catch but it's all too easy for him 160/7

53.2 very tame dismissal indeed, Clark bowls the slower ball and O'Brien is foxed by that, he lunges forward to drive, the ball stops short on him and bobs off the edge and gives Michael Clarke at point the easiest of catches 164/9

54.3 comes round the wicket and hits the middle stump, fires that full and quick, Martin exposes all three stumps and the ball crashes onto the base of middle, Johnson has 5 for 39, his best figures in Tests and his first five-wicket haul 177/10
