India 7 for 0 (Sharma 4*, Naik 2*) vs England. Match abandoned
Scorecard
The third and fourth ODIs between England and India had produced results despite being interrupted by rain, but there was no such luck in the last ODI at Hove, which produced just four overs of cricket. England thus sealed the series 4-0 after comprehensive wins in the previous games.
Charlotte Edwards, the England captain, won the toss and chose to field, but India had managed just seven runs when the weather played spoilsport and forced the game to be called off. Katherine Brunt was named the Player of the Series after her impressive bowling performance, picking up six wickets.
England were denied a clean sweep, which would have made it 13 wins from 16 games, but their impressive form will be a huge boost for them ahead of their next outing, the World Cup in Australia in March.
India, on the other hand, have plenty to think about. Barring captain Mithali Raj, the batsmen throughout the series found it tough to get the runs. The bowlers hardly looked the part as well, with England notching up big wins in the previous matches. A tour that started promisingly with a 106-run win over the MCC ended in utter disappointment, and India will have to regroup in the long break ahead of the World Cup next year.
