South Africa's bid to gain some pride was washed out on Monday when rain prevented any play, leaving England the 4-0 series victors. The sides meet again this Thursday for the first of three Twenty20s; the sole Test having been abandoned long ago in favour of extra chances to play the shorter games ahead of next year's world tournaments.
South Africa brought up their first Twenty20 win of their three matches to date when, earlier this month, they defeated Ireland, while England won the sides' only meeting, which took place last summer.
England will head into the trio of matches fully confident having won every ODI this summer and, with only three wins from their eight Twenty20s to date, they will relish the chance for extra experience. It is more than a year since they last won a Twenty20, against New Zealand.
Charlotte Edwards, England's captain, said: "It's great to win another series - it gives us huge confidence going into the series against India and the three Twenty20s."
