England and South Africa approached their innings with contrasting styles. England were slow at the start but picked up tremendous momentum as both Flintoff and Pietersen fired. South Africa, on the other hand, started quickly but lost quick wickets in the middle and ran out of gas in the end.
Pietersen had a fantastic match and was unsurprisingly named Man of the Match. He paced his 90 splendidly, he hit his first boundary off his 52nd ball but still scored at over a run a ball. He made a smart bowling change by delaying the third Powerplay and bringing on Samit Patel. The move paid off and Gibbs fell in the 16th over. Then he brought himself on and picked up two wickets and was involved in a run out as well.
