New Zealand thrash out-of-depth Scotland

The gap between the major cricket-playing countries of the world and the associate members remains large, despite occasional freak results, as New Zealand showed when they outclassed Scotland by eight wickets at Aberdeen today

Match Centre

A comfortable win for the Kiwis and they were never in doubt, simply too good for the Scots with Taylor the main hitter on 61

Scotland offered little challenge with Sheikh top scoring on 18 and Goudie offering support late on with a good six and 17 runs

Extras was joint top scorer with Poonia on 15 and Scotland will be dissapointed they couldn't make it a closer game and New Zealand will be pleased they got the job done without any hassle. Ross Taylor stated that it had been a very sucessful tour for the Kiwis and as a young team they were gelling well and had a lot of potential.

Scots captain Watson said that things didn't go their way today and that the conditions for them batting couldn't have been worse. He said the tourists made it look easy and there were some youngsters who looked promosing

I'm Callum Stewart and thank you for joning our coverage today and this week for these ODI internationals at Mannofield, Aberdeen
