Close A great recovery from New Zealand after the Twenty20 drubbings. They outplayed England in every department on a sluggish pitch. England never got their innings going, largely because of tight bowling and enthusiastic fielding, and some of the running between the wickets was dire. It's hard to defend 130 and once the NZ openers had got them off to a good start, the rest was little more than going through the formalities.
The two Andrews - McGlashan and Miller - will be back for the second ODI in Hamilton on Tuesday (2.00pm / 0100GMT) but in the meantime thanks for sticking with us and for all your emails, and it's goodnight from Martin Williamson and Will Luke.
The crowd are cheering every swipe and it appears to have got to him!
Stay with us ... it's almost over ...
