16.15 local time: It's official. The match has been abandoned. The situation didn't look promising at the start of the match and the forecast predicted showers around this time in the afternoon.

15.30 local time: It's still drizzling down in Northampton. The heavy clouds are still around there's no hint of breeze too. Looks like a longer wait. Word is that it will take an hour and a half for the groundstaff to get the ground in order, so if it continues to rain for another half an hour, they have an option of calling it off.

15.10 local time: Siddhartha, our man at the ground informs us that it's still raining there. A reduction in the number of overs is likely if the rain doesn't stop soon.

There's no shortage of support for the Indians, with the city of Leicester not too far away. There has been a festive atmosphere since the match started.

Back at Lord's for the Friends Provident Trophy final , Hampshire face a tall order after losing two early wickets to Ottis Gibson. Durham posted 312, thanks to half centuries by Kyle Coetzer, Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Dale Benkenstein. If Kevin Pietersen can get going, it should be a cracker of a chase.
