That's all from us at ESPNcricinfo. Remember the fun never stops when it comes to cricket. Whether you fancy India v New Zealand or Pakistan v England, there's something for you today. Congratulations to South Africa and commiserations to Bangladesh. The second Test starts next Tuesday. See you then.

12.08pm Time for the presentation.

Losing captain Shanto: "We lost as a team. We are not pointing out individual things. But we didn't bat well as a team, we all know that. (Positives like Taijul, Mehidy) It's a big plus. We were 200 runs behind. The way Miraz batted, gave us confidence. We had not done that in the past in such conditions. As batters we need to take responsibility with the new ball."

Kyle Verreynne is the Player of the Match for his 114: "Just backing our options and staying nice and positive. That's what Wiaan and I looked to do. Wanted to commit to the right options. (Adjustment for the nature of this pitch) It's my first Test match in subcontinent, so a new challenge. But our prep leading into the series was really good. My batting has also given me confidence. Worked out in this game. It's important to get partnerships and capitalising on them. Reaching 300 as a team was important."

Winning captain Aiden Markram: "Really good performance. Incredibly tough for the team to put four days of good cricket together although most of the damage was done on day one. Bowlers were great there and then the batters helped us get a great lead. When you get a lead like that, it's tough for opposition to come back. Credit to Bangladesh for making us graft yesterday but to knock them off was a good feather in the cap. (Toss) It was a good toss to lose. We would've batted first too, that's what happens in subcontinent, but our bowlers managed to bundle them out for a low score. (Batters maybe faltered, but recovery helped?) It happens like that in subcontinent. You can lose wickets quite quickly. Bangladesh bowled well too. Lessons from first innings we can take forward as a group. It's really pleasing. Rabada is a special bowler for us. For Kyle to step in and play that sort of innings, that's really special. Emphasis is on whoever playing should make it count."

11.49am South Africa go 1-0 in the Test series. And also keep their bid for a WTC final spot well and truly alive. Coming into this game, they needed to win atleast five of their six games to stay in the tussle, and this box has now been ticked.

This Test was all about Kyle Verreynne's century, Wiaan Mulder's maiden Test half-century, Taijul Islam's five-for, Mehidy's 97 and Rabada's match-haul of nine wickets. However, eventually, Bangladesh's indifferent first-innings batting performance meant the gulf between the two sides was too much.

This also happens to be South Africa's first Test win in Asia since 2014 (vs Sri Lanka in Galle). They had not won any of their previous 14 Tests in Asia and also lost each of their last nine.
