2.55pm Looks like that's just it. The match has been called off due to persistent rain. After a four-hour delay, only 9.2 overs were possible but even in that period Omarzai rattled Zimbabwe with four wickets on helpful conditions. Ben Curran made his debut for Zimbabwe but didn't last long. In the end, rain had the last laugh. Come back on Thursday for the second ODI and let's hope we get a full game. Until then, I am signing off on behalf of Harshith and Ashish. See you all!
2.30pm Pretty steady rain in Harare right now. The covers are firmly in place. Stay tuned for more updates. With that, here's Srinidhi for another stint.
2.07pm The clouds were threatening from the last 15-20 minutes and have now opened up. Heavy rain in Harare as I type. The covers come out. Some brightness in the far end, so hope we can get a restart soon. Omarzai was absolutely relentless with the new ball getting the ball to move hoops both in and out. He first cleaned up Marumani with a peach of an inswinger before removing Brian Bennett first ball caught brilliantly at slip by Nabi. Ghazanfar then trapped Myers in front of the stump while Omarzai struck twice in an over removing debutant Ben Curran and Sean Williams. Batting hasn't been easy and Zimbabwe have found it the hard way.
Musty Laghmani : "batting will be equally difficult for the Afghans too."
