Scorecard

England Under 19 completed a 3-0 series whitewash over Sri Lanka Under 19 with a comprehensive 179-run win. However, a defiant, unbeaten 123 from Angelo Mathews, the Sri Lankan captain, held England up as he and Charles Fernando added 100 for the ninth wicket.

Sri Lanka had been set an impossible 510 after Moeen Ali had sped to a century from only 56 balls during the morning session. He and Joe Denly raced to a partnership of 111 to set up the declaration.

Tom Smith then set about working his way through the Sri Lankan top order. He claimed both the openers before Ashan Peiris offered positive resistance with 74 from 96 balls. But when he was bowled by Smith, Sri Lanka quickly slumped to 200 for 8.

The stand between Mathews and Fernando may have saved some face for Sri Lanka but it couldn't get anywhere near saving the game as Ali followed up his barnstorming century with 3 for 82.
