106.4 gottim, steered to slip! Bracewell is tied up with a bow, and has to go! Broad keeps his lips pursed, but the eyes say everything. Excellent delivery, following up the in-ducker with on that held its line on off stump to take a fat outside edge. Crawley, at second slip, this time makes no mistake 265/7

117.1 a wild wipe off a good length, it's the Stokes-Leach show at Headingley again! Inelegant from Southee, a half-scamper down the pitch, an off-balance thwack leads to a one-handed leading edge, Stokes steadies himself at mid-off and New Zealand are nine-down, and Leach is looking for a five-for! 329/9

117.3 hacked massively out to wide long-on, and Bairstow bags the five-for! It's in the air for an eternity, it's high and swirling, it calls for a sprint and dive, and a spin in mid-flight, but Bairstow stays cool, leaps forward, scoops it up in both hands, in front of that Western Stand, and it's huge acclaim for the spinner! 329/10

0.5 cleans him up! That's just exceptional bowling from Boult. Full, fast, zigzagging delivery, over the wicket and on the perfect line and length. Draws him one way, then the other, and plinks off his off bail as Lees leans into an attempted forward defence and is beaten around the outside edge. Brilliance 4/1

6.5 stunning bowling! Crawley was lured at last into the hard-handed drive, but it's not the nick this time, it's the castling! A hooping inswinger, bends clean through the gate, his discipline lasted for all of 23 deliveries as his middle stump is pegged back with a resounding thunk! 17/3

4.4 sensational from Boult! He's ripped Pope apart like an over-eager puppy with a Christmas present! Once again Pope falls into his stroke because he has no clue how and where this is bending, except that it is, and it's straight through his defences and into the off stump! Shape from over the wicket, bend from a perfect line, and now England are in bother! 14/2

7.5 this is masterful from New Zealand! Southee goes wider on the crease, serves up a snorter angled in on the full length, straightens just enough as Root is obliged to push through the line and Blundell snaffles the nick! 21/4

65.1 Bairstow holes out! Skips down the ground but Bracewell tosses it well outside off. Bairstow goes with the shot but hardly gets anything behind it and Boult dives forward at long-off to take it just above the ground. Applause for Bairstow as he walks back 351/9

11.2 chipped to mid-off! Wagner lands a blow! Stokes' counter lasts all of 13 balls, as he hurtles down and tries to clear the man, only to mistime his shot for Williamson to hold a tumbling catch. Wagner bellows his approval, punches the air in celebration. NZ rip out a fifth 55/5

11.5 trapped in front by an inswinger! Up goes the finger, Wagner has two in the over... or does he? Foakes reviews, but it looks a punt. Sure enough, it's struck him on the knee and would have clattered into the top of leg stump. England going down in a blaze 55/6

57.3 edged and gone! Overton chases the angle, tight to off stump and shaping ever further away, and it's a low edge to first slip! What a gutting moment from Overton, who gets a shoulder round his arm as he traipses off. He's rescued England's innings, but he's been denied his moment of history! 296/7

64.6 cleans him up! Finally! A length ball around off. Broad once again gave himself some room but realised soon it wasn't there to be hit. Looks to defend in the end but is beaten on the outside edge as the ball holds its line and hits the off stump 351/8

66.6 given lbw. Fuller on the stumps, Leach looks to drive at it but gets beaten and is hit on the back pad. He has gone for the review straightaway. Only an inside edge can save him here. No bat involved and the ball-tracking confirms it would have gone on to hit the middle stump 360/10

33.1 round the wicket, and Overton strikes straightaway! The ideal line and length to challenge Latham's habitual anxiety outside off, and Bairstow swallows the edge! Angling in, just enough pace and nip to draw the error. 125/2

7.6 the edge finds third slip this time! Seriously impressive from Potts, just hammering the full length on and around off stump, with just enough movement to keep Young guessing. His drive is loose and Pope's take at third slip is sharp. England are up and running 28/1

Outstanding bowling change, the perfect man for the moment, in the channel outside off, hitting the pitch hard, nibbling away, luring a fateful flirt outside the eyeline and Bairstow grabs the edge! Potts' relentless areas persuaded NZ's skipper to go where he didn't want to, and now this innings is cranked open! 153/4

41.4 Pope at short leg! England strike straight after the break again! Root, round the wicket, finds bite on a good length, a fenced inside-edge to the leg side, and Pope swoops brilliantly with his left hand, inches from the turf! 152/3

95.3 flogged across the line... and Bracewell holes out to deep midwicket! Straight down Crawley's throat right back on the rope, and that's a very important breakthrough. Kudos to Leach, he held his nerve, kept inviting the long handle, with an in-out field to guard against all eventualities, and Bracewell pulls his stroke far squarer than intended 291/7

101.1 bowled 'im, top of middle! Leach fillets the NZ No. 9, and the run chase looms closer... Nice bit of drift in and Southee is hesitant getting forward. By the time he starts to play, the ball has kicked up off the deck and zips through the gap to ping the bails. Leach has a third with his lovely loopy stuff 305/8

101.6 has he nicked this? Has Billings caught it...? There's a scramble behind the stumps, the ball didn't seem to go in cleanly, but he finally pulls it out from between his knees. Marais Erasmus goes across to chat to his colleague, then gives the soft signal of 'out'. Clearly an edge on the replay, and this is going to be out! Billings is beaming, the luck with England. The ball missed the gloves and hit him in the chest, but he managed to snap his legs together and prevent it going to ground. Two in the over for Leach, this game is moving again! 305/9

105.2 bowled 'im! Leach has ten! Fired in straight with Boult trying to come down again, rattles the stumps. Leach is engulfed by his team-mates, his first ten-wicket haul in Tests. NZ have been wrapped up, and the target will be 296. Tantalising! 326/10

4.6 bazinger! Crawley's best shot of the match leads to Lees' demise! Absolutely batters a high-elbowed drive, Crawley is off on an auto-run but Williamson in the covers pounces brilliantly, pings the return back to the bowler, and Lees is completely sold a pup by his team-mate there! Outstanding take on the run from Boult too 17/1

12.1 Crawley holes out to cover! Williamson is the man, and that's a poor end to an innings that was just beginning to find some form from the deepest of holes. Brilliant field placing, tempting the stroke with gaps in the deep on the off side, and tossing it up, he was never over the stroke, and the chance just looped into his hands 51/2

39.5 Cleans him up with a ripper! Just cuts back into Pope, who was not expecting it. Is rooted to the crease as the ball knock over off stump. What a start to the day for New Zealand. The 134-run stand is broken. 185/3
