66.3 he bowled Stokes past the inside edge, and now he's bowled Root past the outside edge. What a display this has been from Motie. Not a lot of turn, but it's the quicker one, and it lands on a beautiful length and straightens past Root's bat, which is a little late coming down to drive through the covers. Off stump pegged back. Replays show it's the seam-up arm ball, with the seam canted towards leg slip, but the seam bit the pitch and the ball straightened off the deck. Like an inswinger holding its line. Stokes loses control of his bat swing, plays well in front of his body and all around the ball in an attempt to whip it into the leg side, and it turns past his inside edge and crashes into his stumps. Woakes rolled his wrists looking to whip it away behind square but timed it so well that it flew straight to Mikyle Louis, just offf the rope! He punches his bat in frustration, and the TV cameras cut to Ben Stokes with his head in his hands on the England balcony. West Indies break the stand 339/7

82.5 and he's gone first ball! Atkinson got Holder out for a golden duck, and here is Holder's revenge. Lovely outswinger in the channel, angling in from wide of the crease and straightening on the batter, who's pushing quite a way away from his body, looking to play on the up. Healthy edge, and da Silva dives to his right to complete the catch two-handed 342/8

89.2 up in the air, but this time he doesn't middle it. But the miscue doesn't carry to the deep either. But that doesn't matter, because Louis has sent Bashir back with a rocket direct hit. Fullish outside off, not full enough for a clean hit over the covers, especially since he was backing away to make room. Had to reach for the ball a bit. Goes high in the air, falls well short of deep point. They look for two to keep Smith on strike, only for Louis to produce a killer direct hit at the non-striker's end 367/9

8.1 knocks him over, crashes into the top of middle stump! Anderson runs away in celebration. 17.2 and Stokes finds the edge immediately after the ball change! Beautiful delivery, good length, angling into the fifth-stump channel with Stokes' leaning release, and inducing the batter to press forward and feel for it. He really isn't an easy bowler to leave. Louis doesn't do a whole lot wrong, but it curls away late, and he feathers it through to Smith 32/3

11.3 trapped in front, Rod Tucker gives it out! 200 Test wickets for Stokes... but McKenzie has reviewed Not too far from the inside edge as McKenzie looked to work through mid-on, but UltraEdge confirms there's no bat invovled. Struck him on the back pad, above the knee roll, but Hawk-Eye projects it would have crashed into the top of middle stump 17/2

28.2 got him, this has been an utterly spectacular little spell to Athanaze, and you sensed this was coming. Over the wicket, round the wicket, outswing, inswing, everything finishing exactly where he wants it to. Now he bowls fifth-stump, straightens it slightly, and the length is full enough to invite the drive but certainly not full enough to drive safely. Finds the edge, and it dies a little but carries low to Smith 55/5

18.3 and he doesn't need any of those fielders. Not the best shot, this. He'd pulled a not-necessarily pullable ball in the previous over, but this is far more dangerous. Back of a length in the corridor, and you really want to be very, very careful about playing those with an angled bat on this pitch, because the ball has frequently kept low. This one stays ever so slightly low as he looks to get on his toes and slice it away square on the off side, and all he manages is to chop the ball into his stumps 37/4

34.5 got him, the short-ball plan brings a wicket late in the day, off what will be the last ball of the day, in fact! Short, angling into the body, and it bounces steeply into the armpit area. Awkward one for Holder to play, and he fends at it and fails to keep it down. Pope dives forward at short leg and takes an excellent catch 79/6

37.1 beauty, feathered behind! Anderson has his first of the last dance, his third of the innings. A contented murmur from the crowd, so subtle is the skill at work - but his family are on their feet straight away. 40.1 short stuff does it, Atkinson 10-for! Joseph is suckered into taking on the bumper and falls into the trap, well held by Duckett running around from deep backward square leg. Atkinson's debut just gets better and better (but can you now please stop taking wickets so Jimmy can get his flowers, thanx) 96/8

He plants his front foot outside leg stump looking to swipe through the off side but is deceived by the yorker, which crashes into the base of off with a Simon Jones-style 'clunk' and leaves the stump lying on the turf 103/9

46.6 picks out Duckett on the deep midwicket boundary! Atkinson has five in each innings on debut, and 12 in the match. Back of a length, swung away on the pull with a decent connection, but straight to Duckett who takes a good catch on the rope, keeping his balance.
