13.1 Holder's first ball has off stump cartwheelng. 125ks, on a length, landed around fourth and seamed back in. Markram, a touch unlucky, as that skidded without much bounce. He wanted to defend with a straight bat and off the back foot, which was the bigger issue given the indications from this pitch so far. Big gap between bat and pad breached. Holder doing a high-knee dance in celebration. 43/1
49.1 a soft, soft dismissal. It was full around off and de Zorzi went for the fine reverse sweep. But Warrican bowled this slightly slower, resulting in the batter gloving it to the slip. Hodge at slip had started to move to his left but reacted quickly when he saw the ball coming to his right 137/3
27.1 The slips being close pays off, Holder goes low to the left, swings his palms across and snaffles it. Length, the key, for Roach, along with the wide-of-crease release. Pushed it up at around the fuller side of length, angled it in towards fifth stump. Stubbs needn't have played at that but was dragged by the release angle. He wanted to push to cover by the looks of it. First slip, behind Holder, dove across too but the latter got early and used his reach well. He yells in delight 86/2
88.3 Full toss gets Bavuma, he was ready to walk but Verreynne convinces him to review. This was out though, the new ball looked to be going leg side but swung towards off. Beat the flick and hit around shin-height. Bavuma was almost out the ground by the time Hawk-Eye showed it'd go on to hit off stump. Seales deserved a wicket that over. Bavuma's 89 vs NZ in 2017 remains his highest away score in an innings 271/6
63.4 The leg-side trap works, Seales has broken through! There is a third-umpire check but Bedingham's halfway back. Carty, at deep forward square leg, was a few metres in from the boundary and diving forward, he scooped it with cupped wrists just above the grass. Zoomed picture is blurry but the fingers seem underneath even as they scrape the grass, and he wrings them upon falling chest-first into the ground. Holds onto it while tumbling and the third umpire is happy. Was a shortish 127ks ball around off that rose to around rib-height. Bedingham went with the old-school pull, with the front leg cranking up, and he didn't want to keep it down but failed to hit the gap. First home Test wicket for Seales 187/4
80.2 New ball works Roach gets it straighten off the pitch and it's given lbw right away! Batters decide not to review and Roach pumps his right hand high and roars in delight. Proper seed this. Around the wicket, landed on the fuller side of length and looked to be going towards leg stump, so Rickelton shaped for the flick but was beaten and hit around the knee-roll. Hawk-Eye shows three reds 244/5
108.3 chipped back and West Indies have a wicket late in the day. A length ball at the stumps, really innocuous. But Verreynne ends up pushing it back towards the bowler who dives forward to grab it with both hands 328/7

108.4 Another caught and bowled and Warrican has two in two. Tossed up around off and Maharaj punches it uppishly to the left of the bowler who dives across to take it with both hands, around shin height. South Africa seems to have ceded the advantage. 328/8
116.4 Edged? Yeah, ump raises his finger. Warrican strikes, he looped it up and angled it in. Lots of drift. Rabada got forward and tried to defend with a straight bat but got a thin edge. Might've expected for it to spin more. Warrican jumps in delight, he's got four now 356/9
117.4 Off stump cartwheels. 137ks back of length, landed around fourth stump and decked back. Ngidi stood still, leg side of the ball, and tried defending with bat in front of body. Misjudged the line completely. Mulder's ploy to give Ngidi five balls to play doesn't work 357/10

49.2 a direct hit at the bowler's end. And we are going upstairs. It was a full ball around off that Brathwaite flicked to the right of mid-on and set off. It looked like Brathwaite would make it comfortably but instead of going in a straight line, he went sideways, perhaps in an attempt to save himself from the throw. And that has made all the difference. When Mulder's throw hit the stumps, Brathwaite's bat was on the line. And this is a no-ball as well - Ngidi had overstepped - but that doesn't affect the run-out 114/2

26.6 the arm ball does the trick. Full around off and middle. Louis came forward to defend, playing for the turn. But the ball went on straight and sneaked through the gap between bat and pad to disturb the stumps. Louis' father, who is watching from the stands, is equally disappointed 53/1
50.3 LBW given right away!. Maharaj angling it in from around the wicket, beat Carty's defence. He wanted to play for a bit of spin and got beat on the inside edge. Arm ball gives the left-armer another one. Length ball landed in line with off and, Hawk-Eye says, would go on to hit leg stump 119/3
56.3 Caught at slip, Maharaj has bamboozled Athanaze! He's beat him on both edges and now has him feather one. This was on the fuller side of length, Athanaze got forward and tried defending with a straight bat but couldn't cover the line. Lollipop catch for Markram. Just 76ks 124/4
83.4 Rabada strikes with the new ball. Snorting back of lengther around fourth, 139ks, Hodge wanted to defend from the crease, bat slightly angled and close to the right knee and the hands had a poke. Easily taken at first slip 188/7

75.4 Maybe that's why Markram's called saucy. Through the gate to castle Holder! 89ks, loopy offbreak drifts outside off, lands around fourth and fizzes back to leave Holder driving through the wrong line. He wanted to go through cover but heard the death-rattle and off stump fallen flat. Markram vents out his frustration with a yell 173/5
76.1 Mid-on gets a soft serve on a cone. Just 75ks from Maharaj, landing it on a length around off. Da Silva cleared the front leg to give himself room. Went with a cross-bat, perhaps for a pull. But the ball does not arrive. In the end, his wrists whiplash as he flicks it while trying to reduce the force. He failed though, and the ball carried to de Zorzi, who came forward and took it lowish. Maharaj using the slowness of the pitch to complete his four-for 174/6
87.4 an appeal for lbw and given. Roach had reviewed it. Was a length ball around off that nipped back in to beat the inside edge and hit the front pad on the knee roll. The ball-tracking shows it would have gone on to hit middle stump 215/9
85.1 Rabada strikes again. It was full around off. Motie was looking to work it on the leg side but ends up closing the bat-face a touch too early. Gets a healthy outside edge that goes towards second slip where Markram takes it to his right, around chest height 192/8

91.5 and he needs only one. On the fuller side of good length and angling towards the stumps. Seales goes for a drive with his feet nowhere near the ball. He misses and I think the ball brushed his back leg before uprooting the off stump. Ngidi gestures to him to keep his mouth close 233/10

15.4 70ks ball strangles de Zorzi down leg. Warrican's smile couldn't be wider, Da Silva leaping in joy too. Jaffas are great but these are fun. Was a length ball that de Zorzi wanted to tickle fine. Replays show it landed in line with the stumps but spun sharply and de Zorzi went through with the shot 78/1
21.4 Markram can't clear long-on. Looks at the bottom of the bat while walking back. Was a flighted full ball, angling in towards leg. Batter went further leg side and clubbed it. Miscued though. Easy fingers-pointing-up catch for Holder 113/2

0.3 and the carrot has worked. Brathwaite skips out of his crease and looks to go over the bowler's head. But he isn't to the pitch of the ball. Moreover, there is turn for Maharaj, resulting in an outside edge that goes up towards sweeper cover. Stubbs is halfway to the boundary and jogs in to pouch it 0/1
7.6 Rabada has bought South Africa a wicket. Stubbs being brought at catching midwicket is what set the trap. Rabada went yorker on leg, short just outside off and now back of length at the stumps. 134ks. Louis neither forward not back. He wanted to work it leg side from on top of the bounce, with a closed bat face. Got a top edge that went high. Stubbs had to wait more than he had to move. 18/2
16.5 Uppish, and taken at cover. Just 73ks and it sticks to the pitch, Carty too early on the back-foot punch. Sent upstairs to check for clean catch. Mulder was falling forwards and the ball was closing in on the ground but was scooped by the hands just before. Was a length ball that landed in line with off, turned away and kept a touch low too. Carty throws his head back in disappointment. That was a touch unlucky. 64/3
52.5 Athanaze falls for 92. Caught at backward square leg, who is halfway to the boundary line. Maharaj shortened his length this time. Athanaze went for the sweep irrespective and top-edged it to Rickelton. Athanaze fails to get the hundred but gets a pat on the back from Markram 192/5
34.1 Maharaj nicks off Hodge with a pearler. Gives it air, lands it on a length around middle and rags it away. Hodge was deep in the crease and wanted to block towards cover but the turn and bounce had him squared-up and poking very late. Unfortunately, there was a feather before he could retract the stick 127/4
