7.45pm And that concludes our live coverage of the first ODI. West Indies take a well-deserved 1-0 lead into the second match of the series, which will also be played at Kensington Oval, on Thursday. Do join us for that. Until then, goodbye!
Alzarri Joseph is the player of the match. "For me, it's a really good start to the year," he says. "It's just about putting in the hard work in training and doing the yards. My personal coach, Winston Benjamin, whenever I have something going on, I turn to him for advice. I kind of had an idea of how I wanted to bowl today, and I just kept it simple and bowled to my plans."
Nick P: "Feel like Lewis might have some words with Chase in the dressing room" -- Can you blame him for playing that lovely drive? I mean, give me a half-volley like that in the same situation, and I would (try to, and fail to) play that exact same drive.
7.35pm A most excellent finish to the game, but century or not, this was a lovely innings from Lewis, full of glorious strokeplay, especially square of the wicket on the off side, and through the covers. There were a couple of injudicious dismissals from the West Indies batsmen, but Ireland simply didn't have enough runs on the board. This was a pitch with some steep bounce in it, but otherwise it was pretty good to bat on.
Dylan Laubscher: "actually a two and a six for Lewis would be easier to help him get to 100.. he cannot trust partner to block out over.. what if bowler bowls a wide or no ball" -- Yup, it could just work out that way...

So if Chase plays out a maiden, and if Lewis takes a single next over and the remaining five balls are dots, Lewis will have a chance to get to his hundred with a six.
