Well, that brings to an end a scintillating voyage that this game turned out to be. Tamim's disbelief does echo the magnanimity of this achievement. It's one of a three match ODI series but it's one to remember. We will be back on Friday for the second ODI on Friday. If this game is anything to go by, it'll be a cracker and a potential series decided. Catch all the action from that game here
Tamim Iqbal, Bangladesh Captain: Honestly, I did not believe we could win after 45/6. But I'm very proud and happy for the two for their incredible innings. Afghanistan have a brilliant attack but Mehidy and Afif did well. Hopefully this is a start for them and they have many more amazing performances.
Mehidy Hasan is the Player of the Match for his 81* (120) and 10-3-28-0
Hasmatullah Shahidi, Afghanistan Captain: We had a good start but they played very well without giving a chance, which was incredible. We were 30-runs short but the way Fazal started was great but credit to them for fighting back. This was just the start but there are two more games to go and we will look to come back.
Saravanan: "Difficult part is choosing player of the match...can it be shared ?" We'll find out as the presentations begin.
Anwar: "Do you believe in miracles now?"
A A Musabbir : "This is incredible. I am always hopeful with Bangladeshi cricket but never believed they will win it from 45/6. Hats of Afif and Miraz. Really proud of you."
7:01 pm: The under 22 duo have done it! They strung, wove, and fabricated a partnership for more than 35 overs with 174 runs to take their side to what seemed an impossible victory. Afghanistan started the innings with a cluster of wickets in the first ten where Farooqi wrote his own script. After Rashid got Mahmudullah, it got even direr. But the last hope that came with Afif and Mehidy blossomed into belief and later, conviction. Eventually, they took the team home and made it look like they were never under any pressure to begin with.
amith itty: "@46.6 i was wondering what made you say, that was 35 years ago. I mean this guy is not even 22 years old"
Just four needed off the last two. It's only a matter of when the game finishes, not who wins anymore
A mere month after the Mount Manganui miracle, Bangladesh's young 'uns scripted another memorable win
For the first time, a team won an ODI despite their top six batters scoring less than 30 runs
Pair's record 174-run stand stuns Afghanistan after Farooqi's four-for
The hosts have their senior group back, while BPL experience should stand the visitors in good stead
