That's all from us at ESPNcricinfo. From Dhawan's innings to KL Rahul coming back to form to Krunal Pandya's emotional day with the bat, India did well to get 317. After that, a comeback for the ages from the bowlers, starting with Prasidh Krishna and helped by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shardul Thakur. That means as we sign off, India are 1-0 up, but knowing this England side, they'll be roaring to make a statement when the two teams take the field for ODI number 2 in three days' time. Till then, it's goodbye. PS. If you're craving more cricket, there's an intriguing Test match going on in the Caribbean.. Hop over!

Shikhar Dhawan is the Man of the Match for his 98. "Very happy with the performance. Great comeback. Really enjoyed it. I was putting all my efforts in the process. Was doing good gym, running, net sessions whenever possible. Eventually my smart work paid off. We knew ball was seaming early on (Rohit and him). We knew we could score runs later on. You feel bit sad (getting out on 98) but I am not a person who gets too sad or too happy. I was not in a rush to score 100, went for a shot, got out. There's always a next time. When I wasn't playing, I was thinking how I can give to the team. I was being a good 12th man (laughs), serving water. In my head, though, I was quite positive. That when I get an opportunity I can score runs."

Virat Kohli: "One of our sweetest victories in recent past. We haven't won many good games in ODIs. A comeback from all our bowlers. Going for few runs early on (Prasidh) and coming back was amazing. Krunal as well. Shardul, Bhuvi were amazing. I am a really proud man right now. Team showed great character and intensity. As I've mentioned in the past as well, we promote players who have intent and back their skills. Special mention to Shikhar's innings as well. Didn't get much after the first T20I. KL as well, back among the runs. So we want to back people who will do a selfless job. It's a healthy competition between everyone for every slot. We have 2-3 players available for every slot. The management has done these discussions with senior players as well. We are on the right path. A special mention to Shikhar again. His body language was amazing when he wasn't playing. He was motivating players, running with extra stuff like water. Today he deservedly got the result he achieved. Made a very important contribution. You saw it was tricky first up and the openers had to start off that way. In that context, his innings was very important since he batted the tough overs. His contribution was better than what the scorecard was. Yes, could be (was England subpar). When I was batting, I told Shikhar that between 31-40 I'd look to take the bowlers on. We lost a few wickets and there was a brief pushback but Krunal and KL then took it away. If I had stayed with Shikhar around that 40 over period we could've got 350. England hit some amazing shots, and scores will be high scoring moving forward, and we'll look to get bigger scores moving forward."

Morgan: I thought the bowlers were outstanding and there was a bit more on offer for the seamers. The two openers were outstanding, but we failed to build on from that. We need to execute better than we did today. India did really well and deserved to win. Being able to take the attack to the opposition is something that we pride ourselves on. We want to continue to push the envelope in that regard. It's better for us to lose like this than losing by 10-20 runs playing in a completely different manner that doesn't suit us. The game is always moving forward, technology and fitness are moving forward, so we need to push hard as we can. It's important for us to dictate the way we play. The bowlers did an outstanding job - the traditional Test line and length proved good in this wicket. We probably didn't play well to take any advantage [of dew]. Just the execution (what would you change?)

9.30pm Prasidh Krishna, the man of the moment: I didn't start off well, they went hard, but we took wickets in a cluster. I just wanted to hit good areas, I thought after the third over I can't bowl full and hit the good lengths. As a bowling unit, we were outstanding today. I want to be called a hit-the-deck bowler, I think I'm better at it. I will go back, work on my lengths, and come back. I hope I can do it for the team for long. From the beginning even if we are going for runs, the talk was to pick up a wicket.

England were ahead in the chase when Roy and Bairstow powered them to 135 for 0. After taking a pasting from them in the early exchanges, Prasidh bounced back strongly to have Roy caught at point. In his next over, he got Stokes and set in motion a collapse. Thakur and Bhuvneshwar also played their part in India's grand comeback as England were dismissed for 251. Quite fittingly, it was Prasidh who closed out the game, having Tom Curran holing out. His figures of 4 for 54 are the best by an Indian on ODI debut.

Prasidh Krishna to TK Curran, OUT, Prasidh seals victory for India on debut! Full and he hides it away from the swinging arc of Curran. The batsman ends up slicing it to Bhuvneshwar at deep third man. Prasidh gets a warm hug from his Karnataka team-mate and friend Rahul. Such a sweet moment
