5.45pm And as BCB president Nazmul Hossain gives Kraigg Brathwaite the Test Trophy, it's time for us to say goodbye from this tour. Hope you enjoyed ESPNcricinfo's coverage. Brathwaite hands the trophy to the youngsters, like Joshua Da Silva and the others. Photo time in Dhaka, and smiles all around. See you everyone.
5.35pm Presentations
Due to Covid-19, the ODI series trophy wasn't given to Tamim Iqbal and Bangladesh after the white-ball leg. Tamim receives it now.
Time for Kraigg Brathwaite, the winning captain. He says "Thank. I would say it's a team effort. The one-day team not doing well, but we wanted to here. We had a plan, enjoyed it, and happy to win the series. I wasn't surprised with my wickets of the openers. Wanted to come on, keep it tight. Nice it's a series win in Asia since 2012 for the first time. Coming here without some players, with the protocols and so on. Very thankful to God for opportunity to captain West Indies. Boys stuck to their plans, they were very disciplined. Very proud of the boys. Means everything back home. Cricket means everything to us. People will be proud. People wrote us off. But we kept it simple, enjoyed it, and we proved them wrong. Not surprised about Mayers' first Test. I know him since primary school. Bonner and the others too were looking forward to this tour before they even came. Moseley didn't get the runs but he will get them shortly."
Nkrumah Bonner is the Player of the Series for his 231 runs. Hard luck to Cornwall and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, I'd say. Bonner says, "It's quite similar to Caribbean conditions. It spins at home too, just a little lower here. Spoke to seniors and knew you have to be patient while batting here. After all it's Test cricket, you need to put a price on your wicket."
Rahkeem Cornwall is the Player of the Match for his nine-wicket match haul. He says, "Think it was a good performance. Whole team had a good energy from day one. Coaching staff backed us. Once the conditions give a bit of spin, I enjoy it. Back myself, try to put the ball in the right areas. You just have to be patient, be consistent and build pressure. I've been doing a lot of work in the morning in slip fielding. When the ball comes to me, I want to catch it."
Now Mominul Haque, losing captain. He says, "When you lose, it's disappointing. We have some positives like Miraz with bat and ball. Taijul bowled really well. Tamim, Mushfiqur got fifties. When the openers were batting, we thought we can chase it. But the middle order collapsed badly. Miraz tried hard but we couldn't reach our goal. Shakib is a 2-in-1 player, so when we lose him, its difficult as captain to get a combination that can balance the team."
The presentations will be starting soon. What has been your favourite moment of the series? I know Mayers' double hundred can't be beaten, but anything else that stood out?
5.12pm We'll have the presentation very soon. You don't want to miss the reactions. It's also the first time in 65 years that all ten wickets have been taken by West Indies spinners in a Test innings. The last time was Christchurch 1956. Valentine, Ramadhin, Smith then....Brathwaite, Warrican, Cornwall today.
Stat alert: This is only the fourth whitewash West Indies have inflicted on a home team. The last three have been in Bangladesh. Before that, they had blanked England in a five-Test series in 1984.
5.09pm Massive achievement for West Indies, coming to Bangladesh with such an inexperienced side, so many players representing the country in their maiden Test series. In both games, in Chattogram and Dhaka, West Indies had to overcome some nerves to seal the win. All smiles in their contingent. Cornwall the star of the series with his 14 wickets. Add the crucial catches in the cordon today, including the winning moment.
The heart goes out to Mehidy Hasan Miraz too, who battled, and tried to do the near impossible after Bangladesh looked down and out. But overall, it's Bangladesh's disappointing batting approach that costs them this match. Chasing 231 was never going to be easy on a fourth-innings track at the Shere Bangla, but a little bit more from their experienced batsmen could've taken them over the line.
5.05pm It's all over and what a game we've witnessed. Ian Bishop on TV says, "national heroes have been made." This is Bangladesh's first whitewash at home since West Indies blanked them 0-2 in 2012/13 (in a series of two or more matches) . This will be Bangladesh's 15th whitewash in a series of two or more matches - eight more than any other team. Zimbabwe have suffered 7 whitewashes in their own turf.
Pabitra Kumar N: "Except taijul rest all 9 batsman score in double digit including extra but no one convert these into big.else Bangladesh must win till now"
Mehidy Hasan Miraz c Cornwall b Warrican 31 (77m 56b 3x4 2x6) SR: 55.35
Mustafa Moudi: "This Valentine, Say No to your Girlfriend and Follow this test because you can meet her tomorrow too but cant witness a Nail-biting Chase in Test Like this again !!"
Aminul Islam Mi: "Ufff! Come on Miraz ⊠This is your series. "
Prajith: "Not giving ball to Gabriel against no.11 is terrible captaincy."
Bangladesh need 18. West Indies need 1 wicket. Ten minutes of play left today. Otherwise we'll have to come back tomorrow. Gabriel has left the field too
Bharath: "Anyone for a tie?"
Both sides will be nervous now
last ball of the over, he'll be looking for a single
"You want people to know that they have to perform because others are waiting to come in if they don't," says coach
