29.6 there's the breakthrough. Excellent line from Henry, just short of a length in the corridor, and Sibley isn't sure whether to play or leave. Ends up leaving his bat in the way as he tries to withdraw it from the line, and a hint of away swing is enough to find the edge through to Blundell 72/1

30.6 got him, New Zealand are on fire after lunch. Superb bowling from Wagner, keeps it on that fullish length, slanting across into that tight channel just outside off stump. The previous one swung in and produced a hurried defensive response, and the threat of inswing makes Crawley hang his bat out at this one too. This doesn't swing in - or not as much - and it takes the outside edge and flies to third slip 73/2

33.5 gone, Henry has his second, and this is the big one! Beautiful length in the corridor, and he gets that late outswing again. Root is perhaps half a beat late in getting onto the front foot, and is therefore a few inches less close to the pitch of the ball than ideal, and ends up getting a thin edge on this defensive push. It was a push too, with his hands getting away from his body a little bit 85/3

49.4 gone this time! It's a similar ball to the first of the over, and if anything just a touch wider than what it was then. Pope goes back, but perhaps also has his weight going backwards as he shapes to cut. Gets the toe-end of the bat, and Blundell takes a sharp catch. Pope walks off, disappointed, because he was just about beginning to find his stride 127/4

60.1 gone, another duck for Bracey. This was too easy for Boult. Just hung a full, wide tempter outside off stump, got it to swing away, and Bracey drives with an angled bat and gets a thick edge that Mitchell grabs at chest height with a dive to his left at third slip. It was full, but it was nowhere near full enough to drive 175/6

75.2 tossed up, and he looks to sweep this away. Given out leg before as he goes across the line. Probably worth a review. And they take it anyway. I reckon it would just be a question of whether it turned enough to come back and hit leg stump. No edge on this, as it sneaks under the bat. Goes on to hit him near the box as he looks to play the sweep. Not an issue with the bounce either, in spite of a big stride. It has returned three reds, and that's another good breakthrough from Ajaz Patel. 222/7

95.1 gets him finally with a pitched-up delivery. Just when it started to look like it was getting away from New Zealand. Wood sees it in his zone, looks for the big drives, but the outswinger takes the inside edge onto the stumps. The crowd rises to cheer Wood off the field 288/8

96.2 happens far too often with Broad these days. They set the field for the short ball, he expects one himself, the feet don't go, and the length ball takes the edge. Nice swing away from him, and Boult gets a tickle on the way through 289/9

100.6 has an inside edge saved him?. Richard Kettleborough thinks so but New Zealand have gone for a review. Boult goes with the scrambled seam ball, which seams back in instead of swinging away, and this has beaten the inside edge. The two sounds were the ball hitting the front pad and the back pad. And the ball tracking has the ball hitting the leg stump. A review well used. The decision is overturned. Boult ends up with a four-for 303/10

5.4 Pinned on the knee-roll, and Broad has his man! That's his habitual line to the left-hander, angled in on the full length, challenging both edges and the stumps, this one jags back into Latham, whose front dog is planted and up goes the finger! 45.3 whipped away with that Conway flourish that we are used to by now, but he has found deep square leg with it. That is that idiosyncratic flair-filled shot. Most people flick this length ball off the pads into the ground, but Conway likes to give it a Humpty. This time he has hit this straight down the throat of deep square leg. Just the break England needed 137/2

76.3 gottim! Popped to short leg, fine delivery from Lawrence, bite and bounce into Young's low hands, inside edge, onto the pad, Pope swoops forward, and a maiden Test wicket gives England something to cheer! He celebrates with one finger pointed to the sky, very Shearer-esque... that determination to give it a rip gives England a lift! 229/3

90.3 length ball, Taylor swipes - and nicks through to the keeper! Stone and England erupt, James Bracey is delighted behind the stumps after a diving take, too! Slightly quicker, 87mph/140kph delivery from Stone, and Taylor's cavalier approach, which has served him well today, finally sees him undone. So there won't be a fourth Test hundred against England, who needed that wicket 292/4

97.2 gloved down the leg side! More chin music from Wood and it dislodges Nicholls, a tame parry off the body this time, and Bracey holds it down low. What's that about England's catching...? First wicket for Wood, who's now got Nicholls out with the short ball twice this series. England just hinting at a fightback 312/5

115.4 full, wide and Blundell slices a thick edge to slip! Hung a foot or two outside off and Blundell just throws the hands. Played pretty nicely but given away in the end. NZ have now lost 6 for 69 today 361/9

104.5 oh what a freebie. This is a bit of a long hop outside off, Mitchell has got into a position to pull, and he does pull, but straight to short midwicket. This was such a four ball, but that's how Test cricket rolls 335/6

105.3 Anderson ends his drought. Top of off. Wagner is gone for a duck. This length ball seams back in from outside off, beats the inside edge as Wagner drives on the up, and ricochets off the pad onto the off stump 336/7

110.4 wide on the crease, hits him in front, and it is given. Is there too much angle? Blundell doesn't think so. Henry walks off. This length ball has stayed low and skidded past his bat. It is quick too, at 90mph. The only question is, if it is angling too far down. The bowler, the umpire and the batters don't share that doubt, though. Nor does ball tracking. Hitting leg 353/8

119.1 length ball angling in from round the wicket, Patel hit on the back leg... Kettleborough doesn't give it, but Root eventually reviews. Was there some bat? 10.1 big shout, and given. Henry continues to consign England. Crawley reviews after a long chat with Root. On a length, moves in in a strange manner. It is the kind of wobble the keepers get. It is going straight after pitching and then moves in a little to beat his defensive. Trapped on the crease, hits him in front of off, and the review is wasted 30/3

17.2 Will we have a tomorrow in this Test? This is too good from Wagner and New Zealand. And a response from Wagner to those who think his utility is only in banging the pitch hard. He has been swinging the ball, so Lawrence feels he has to play at this length ball outside off. This one, though, goes with the angle after pitching. Perhaps even seams away a touch.
