West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite: "I'm feeling good. I was confident for the team to fight today and it's good to come out of it with a draw. I'm very happy. Yesterday evening really summed it up for me. We had a tough time in the field but after tea, Kemar Roach led the way with a positive attitude and we got a breakthrough. That summed it up for me, despite all the overs we had in the field, we still had an attitude that we wanted to do it for the West Indies and I was quite pleased with that. We're looking for wins to be honest. I thought Sri Lanka batted well in their second innings. I'm satisfied in terms of the last day going in needing over 300 runs and they needed nine wickets. So I was happy with the attitude we showed today and the discipline, he played a remarkable innings but I know what he's capable of. He has my full support. Coming into the last day needing over 300 runs, I'm happy we came out with a draw. I thought Kemar and Jason led the way with their discipline in terms of their lines and length. In the second innings we missed a few chances and that will happen. But I think we have to be disciplined in both innings to get 20 wickets. We'll go back to the drawing board and look at a few different plans where we could have done a few little things differently and come out with the same attitude. I was happy with the attitude as a unit and we just have to keep growing. We won't always get wins but to come out of this day with a draw shows the fight this team has."

Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne: "I think when we got out for 170 [sic] we knew we were far behind the game, but we talked about lots of things we should do in these conditions. The batting we did in the second innings was amazing. Thirimanne did a superb job in the first innings as well, Oshada had a gem of an innings and Pathum. Moving forward we need those kinds of innings. Dickwella as well was getting some runs on his name. I think first game [Nissanka] is playing, it's not easy facing Roach, Holder, Gabriel. He knew what he's capable of, had a good game plan that he executed very well and it paid off. He's done a great job the last three years in the domestic season so that's why he was called and he took this opportunity with both hands. Now we know how the wicket is behaving. Especially after the ODI series, we didn't have any idea what the Dukes ball is doing in these conditions but now we know. Batsmen have runs under their names. Bowlers are doing really well. The second game is important and we need to give our best before we move on to the Bangladesh series."

Nkrumah Bonner has been named Player of the Match: "It's truly special for me. This is my childhood dream and I'm really happy I got this monkey off my back. The first innings my foot wasn't moving as much as I wanted it too. Sri Lankan bowlers are very disciplined so it was very important to me to stay disciplined and play in the V as much as possible. I think Lakmal was really challenging. All of them are challenging but he was a cut above the rest."

Farrukh: "Kudos to Sri Lanka for first making a game of it! And then Kudos to WI for batting as long as they have done. Supporting pitch or not, it is very easy for teams to crumble under score/time pressure"

Salman Zubair K: "So fulfulling to see old fashioned draw. Too many outrageous Test victories these days. Making them look stale."

5.20pm A day that began with all four results possible has ended in a tame draw, but West Indies should be mighty pleased to see their inexperienced batsmen step up and make themselves counted on the face of a final-day challenge.

Playing in only his third Test, Nkrumah Bonner, who has toiled away for 12 years in first-class cricket, realised his childhood dream of scoring a Test century. That it came in the fourth innings in a tricky chase should give him plenty of confidence going forward. He was helped in no small by Kyle Mayers, who grafted his way to a half-century. Can only wonder what may have been had Mayers not fallen in the first over after tea.

In saying that, Sri Lanka should also be mighty proud of their effort after conceding a 103-run lead. After being shot out for 169 on the opening day, their impressive comeback in the second innings should encourage the team management. Pathum Nissanka, who has been scoring heavily on domestic cricket, showed why he should've perhaps got a look-in much earlier; making a chanceless debut century to help set up a target.

Let's also not forget the efforts of Suranga Lakmal, who wheeled away for 50 overs in this Test. Picked up five wickets in the first innings, unlucky not to have any in the second.
