That's all from us at ESPNcricinfo for the fourth game. Can Australia make it 5-0? Join us on Sunday to find out, till then on behalf of Sreshth Shah and Binoy George, this is Madushka Balasuriya saying bye bye.
Time for the presentation.
Man of the Match Glenn Maxwell: I could play a different role with Josh batting that way. His range, clarity is great. Felt nice to get that crucial direct-hit on the field too.
Aaron Finch: "Agar is bowling beautifully. We need a strong lower order with the bat if we want to defend our World Cup title. Wade did that against Pakistan, and Inglis showed that today too. Maxwell's role was mature to take us over the line."
Dasun Shanaka: "Spinners were good but we didn't put enough runs on the board. Melbourne crowd is always good for us, but sad we couldn't get a win for them."
Jan: "History made at the MCG tonight. That is the first time Glenn Maxwell (48* off 39) has batted 24 or more balls in a T20 international without hitting at least one six.via Twitter"
10.28pm So Maxwell remains unbeaten on 48 off 39, and he fittingly gets the winning runs. It was his partnership with Josh Inglis, who scored a 20-ball 40, that really took the game away from Sri Lanka at a point when they might have scented an unlikely smash and grab. While earlier in the game, it was arguably his direct hit from the deep, to end a promising stand between Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka, that had shifted the momentum of the Sri Lankan innings.
That itself was an innings that had started promisingly, but again was halted by some disciplined work by Australia in the field. A final over blitz had given the Lankan bowlers something to work with, but 139 was always 20-30 runs too short on what was a fairly good batting surface.
Tinura: "@Sakun: Actually this whole series was a lesson from Australia about "single and double your way into wins"
