Right. That will be that from us for tonight. Hope you enjoyed over coverage. Do hop in tomorrow as well, with the Manipal Tigers taking on the India Capitals in a crunch contest! Till then, stay safe, goodbye and goodnight!
Yusuf Pathan, Player of the Match: (On his bowling) I am enjoying my cricket. Whenever the team needs, the runs and the wickets are coming. Everyone is contributing and that feels very good. I am just enjoying myself. The most important thing is to enjoy the game and the more you do it, the more freely you can play.
Parthiv Patel, Gujarat Giants captain: We had a wonderful crowd here and I am sure they enjoyed the game, which went till the 20th over. We did not get the flurry that we needed at the end, probably 15-20 runs short. We wanted to bowl fuller and into the stumps but we got hit to the square boundaries. We want to get on the right side of these games. We wanted to bring Mendis in after the 10th over but the ball became soft and we decided against it.
Irfan Pathan, Bhilwara Kings captain: Great team effort. I think Gayle's wicket was very crucial. As long as he is there, you never know. As soon as he gets out, we knew controlling the game was easier. We could not bowl Panesar but we still had enough options. Special mention to Jesal Karia, who came in late but has performed superbly.
11:20pm This contest ebbed and flowed for large parts. But just when it mattered, the Kings held their nerve. They were superb as push came to shove towards the back end of their batting innings. The Giants' planning and execution left a little to be desired but you can't take anything away from the way the Kings batted. Porterfield and van Wyk got things going at the start. Karia ensured the momentum was maintained in the middle overs, and then the Pathan brothers applied the finishing touches. A victory that has guaranteed the Kings a spot in the play-offs. As far as the Giants are concerned, there were a few positives, most notably the return to form of Gayle. But their bowling remains a worry and if they sneak into the play-offs at the Manipal Tigers' expense, you feel they will have to buck up on that particular front
Two needed now. Can Irfan Pathan finish it off on this ball?
Emrit to bowl the final over
The writing seems to be on the wall for the Giants. Irfan Pathan has not missed a beat since arriving at the crease and with only four runs required, it will need something miraculous from the Giants to make a fist of this game
END OF OVER:19 | 11 Runs | BK: 183/5 (4 runs required from 6 balls, RR: 9.63, RRR: 4.00)
- Irfan Pathan23 (12b)
- Jesal Karia38 (22b)
- Mitchell McClenaghan4-0-37-1
- Thisara Perera2-0-14-1
