11:40pm That will be all from us for tonight. If you are in the mood for more cricket, the SA20 game between MI Cape Town and Joburg Super Kings was bubbling beautifully, until being halted by rain. Join Abhimanyu for all the updates from that riveting contest. Until next time, this is goodbye from Chandan and myself. Take care!

Gulbadin Naib, Player of the Match: (On his celebration) It is a big league, big platform, so it is not easy. I enjoy myself when I bowl and get wickets. The total on the board was not good. We targeted 150. But the way we started, Stone gave us the start. Nicholas and Akeal put together a good partnership and we were just waiting for the moment and for a mistake. That is the beauty of cricket and T20. Not a good total on the board, but we defended it, with the guys giving 100%. It (the pitch) was helping the bowlers a lot. Not easy for the batters. We just tried to keep it stump to stump, and we did it.

Sikandar Raza, Dubai Capitals captain: (On how they held their nerve towards the end) Certainly not me, but the rest of the team did a fantastic job. Tried to stay calm, back my teammates, was thinking about who would give me the best chance (to take wickets and win) and whoever came in, did their job. The first thing I said is this was not a 180 wicket. 150 would have given us a chance, and this score, we would have to show a lot of courage and character. My only message was that it could have been 110 all out as well, but if we show our nerves, stick to four-day Test match bowling, there was enough (in the pitch). When there is a low total on the board, teams want to finish it off quickly. Everyone who bowled in the powerplay and outside…it was about who panics first and glad everyone held their nerve. (On Farhan bowling the last over) I was contemplating. They were only five or six down, so I wanted to trust my senior guys first. Only needed a couple of dots. Knew that if we held our lines and lengths, we had a chance. He held his nerve against Polly and cannot be prouder of him, we will all celebrate him today. I don't think we were at our best today (but still got a result). A win like that goes a long way. When we come up against any team, and the chips are down, this win will give us belief and confidence (that we can win from any situation).

Nicholas Pooran, MI Emirates captain: Wonderful night, brilliant game and start to the tournament. Unlucky there at the end (to not win). Felt like the bowlers did an incredible job. The fast bowlers and the spinners as well. Farooqi continues to show his class. The wicket comes with its challenges, we have to find ways to get in. He (Farooqi) has been doing it for a while now - looking forward to more performances (like that). Akeal played a really good role for us today, finding a way to get a partnership. Unfortunately, we could not get over the line at the end and we have to hold ourselves accountable. Tough to lose a game like that.

Anubhab Mukherj: "What a rollercoaster 24 hours to be a Capitals fan!!!. After Pretoria snatched defeat from the jaws of victory yesterday, Dubai does just the opposite to make it up to us fans. Fantastic win."

11:16pm Phew. What a game. MI Emirates had it after the first innings, and then the Capitals had it when they reduced the defending champions to 23-4. Pooran, though, resurrected the innings alongside Hosein, and when 14 runs were needed, he was still at the crease, with 16 balls in the bank. But a rush of blood followed and in trying to finish off in style, he picked out long on and that set in motion a monumental slow-down.

Pollard could not get it off the square until the last over, and the Capitals, largely due to Naib's efforts, slowly but surely, hauled themselves back. Farhan then held his nerve in the final over and ensured the Capitals' spotless league record against MI Emirates remained intact. A special mention to Stone as well, whose new-ball exploits gave the Capitals belief, and he complemented that with a one-run penultimate over which, ultimately, gave Farhan enough to defend.

Farhan Khan to Pollard, FOUR, one bounce and into the fence! Just a boundary and the Dubai Capitals scrape through to the finish line! Length outside off. Pollard plants his front foot and swings for the hills. Does not connect cleanly but such is his power that he still muscles it to the fence between deep mid wicket and long on. Unfortunately for him and MI Emirates, they needed much more. They needed one of his trademark maximums, but he just could not muster the power or the timing. A moment to savour for the youngster, who pitted his wits against one of the greatest ball-strikers this game has seen, and came up trumps!

Six needed off the last ball. What does Pollard have up his sleeve? What trick does the youngster come up with? It has all come down to this

2
Farhan Khan to Pollard, 2 runs, hard length outside off. Pollard swings hard at it and drags it towards deep mid wicket. Pollard labours back for the second and makes it, ultimately. The throw had to go to the other end, though, with Ghazanfar struggling just as much and that being the closer end. Shanaka was the fielder

8 off 2. The youngster has showed exemplary temperament so far. Can he close it out?

Farhan Khan to Pollard, no run, sharp bumper just outside off and this climbs through. Pollard is beaten for pace and the ball whizzes past his flailing blade
19.3
4
Farhan Khan to Pollard, FOUR, Pollard finds the fence, just when he needed to! Not the cleanest of strikes by any stretch, but they count too. Fullish on the stumps, allowing Pollard to activate that bottom hand. Tugs at it and heaves it behind square for four!

12 off 4. Pollard feeling the pinch

Farhan Khan to Pollard, no run, hard length just outside off. Pollard cannot get a hold of it. Loses his shape again and the bat and the ball end up in different postcodes

1w
Farhan Khan to Pollard, 1 wide, short and wide outside off. Seems to be just inside the tramlines. Pollard nearly swings himself off his feet and misses. And then gets spared by the umpire, who stretches out his arms. Tight, tight call

Farhan Khan to Pollard, no run, Back of a length on middle and leg. Pollard swishes at it but fails to make any contact, with the ball thudding into his back thigh

13 off the last over. All eyes on Pollard. All eyes also on Farhan, who has picked up a wicket already but also dropped Pooran, which at that point, seemed the turning point. Is a redemption the cards?

Stone to Ghazanfar, no run, shortish outside off. Ghazanfar continues swinging like a rusty gate and only swats away a few flies in the process. Just one off the penultimate over

13 off 7. Ghazanfar has to play in even numbers this ball

18.5

Stone to Ghazanfar, no run, was there a nick?! Stone thinks so, as does Hope and we go upstairs! Hard length on off. Seems to straighten a shade and Ghazanfar, who hacks at this too, seems to miss it. The reaction from the bowler and the keeper, though, was prompt, meaning there could be a twist in this tale still. Well well. Clear gap between bat and ball, and the ball brushed the shoulder on the way. Top decision by Simon Taufel. He's still got it, eh?!

13 off 8. Surely Ghazanfar has to continue swinging now?

18.4

Stone to Ghazanfar, no run, banged into the track outside off. Gathers pace off the surface and whistles past Ghazanfar's enormous swipe
18.3

Stone to Ghazanfar, no run, back of a length, slanting into leg stump. Ghazanfar swings and misses, and cops a blow in the abdomen region for his troubles

Stone to Pollard, 1 run, back of a length just outside off. Pollard drops it into the off side and is happy to take the single. Ghazanfar has to scramble to make it too

Stone to Pollard, no run, very full and angling into the pads. Pollard plays all over it and the ball pings him flush on the front pad

Stone to bowl the 19th. Pollard on strike. 14 off 12

Gulbadin Naib to Ghazanfar, no run, full on off. Ghazanfar watches the ball all the way and presents the full face of the bat

Ghazanfar the latest to try his luck with the bat

Gulbadin Naib to Joseph, OUT, gloved and taken! Naib is turning this game around! Banged into the track on middle and leg. Climbs onto Josepha and gets very big on him. He tries to hook it away but all he manages is a glove through to the keeper. The Capitals are excited, and they perhaps sense a window of opportunity now!

Gulbadin Naib to Joseph, no run, back of a length outside off. Skips off the surface and Joseph, fishing at it away from his body, is beaten for pace

Joseph is the new man in

W
Gulbadin Naib to Pooran, OUT, Pooran skies it, and Pooran bites the dust! Now then. Now then! Slower ball on a length outside off. Pooran looks to smash this into next week and loses his shape, also because of the lack of pace. Goes a mile up and when it comes down, it lodges firmly in Stone's palms. Naib brings out his trademark bicep-flexing celebration, and the Capitals might still be in this!

N Pooran c Stone b Gulbadin Naib 61 (64m 40b 3x4 4x6) SR: 152.5

Less than run-a-ball now. 14 off 16

Gulbadin Naib to Pooran, FOUR, edged and four! Fullish just outside off. Pooran has a wild whoosh across the line and gets it diagonally opposite to where he was aiming. Flies past the keeper and those are four vital runs!
17.1
1
Gulbadin Naib to Pollard, 1 run, back of a length on the hips. Pollard helps it away into the square leg region and gets his skipper back on strike

19 off 18. A wicket here will make things really interesting, especially if that wicket is of Pooran. Can Naib provide that breakthrough?

END OF OVER:

McCoy to Pollard, 1 run, slower ball on a full length outside off. Pollard winds up and smashes it down the ground to long on. McCoy did well to duck under it
16.5
1
McCoy to Pooran, 1 run, just short! Full on the pads. Pooran tries to help it away and nearly hits it straight to Zahir at short fine leg. Falls just in front of the fielder, who does well to get something behind it
16.4
1
McCoy to Pollard, 1 run, length outside off. The bottom hand comes through for Pollard a bit too much and he tugs it to long on
