6.33pm So here comes confirmation that the match has been called off. That means New Zealand enter the tournament proper with a loss in their first warm-up, and a wash out in their second. Anyway, keep following the action from another part of Australia, where West Indies look stable against Zimbabwe in a must-win match. See you soon!
Aufan Rashid: "Any chance of play here or it will be washed out?" --- Looks very difficult at the moment...
Meanwhile, RP Singh's 4 for 13, or Yuvraj Singh's 70? Lasith Malinga's 5 for 31, or Rangana Herath's 5 for 3? Vote for your favourite men's T20 World Cup performances.
"Specially flying to Melbourne tomorrow from Delhi,to watch the match between India and Pakistan on Sunday. Hoping and praying for the match to not get impacted or washed out by rains!" --- Billions from both sides of the border are with you, Samrat Ahuja. Other than of course the neutral fans
Thanks Ekanth. One eye is on the weather in Brisbane all right, but I am yet to get over this assault in Hobart.
Time for Himanshu to take over.
5:30pm: This should have been toss time but the rain is persistent, so toss has delayed. Getting a game seems unlikely but let's hope for the best.
Nilesh k: "I know it's too early to say, but I hope rain do not play spoilsport on sundays match between ind vs pak…weather doesn't look great in Melbourne too…" Yep
Update: Campher and Dockrell's 119-run stand leads Ireland to the win.
Joy@Brissi: "It is raining cats and dogs here at Brissi...The weather might turn out to be a spoilsport for the tournament !"
5:10pm: Over at Hobart, Ireland are heading towards a comeback win, thanks to Dockrell and Campher. Can there be a twist in the final act? Find out here.
Nivee: "What about weather now?" The forecast is bad, we'll post updates as they come in. For the uninitiated, the Afghanistan vs Pakistan game at the Gabba earlier today was washed out.
India are coming off of a turnaround win against Australia thanks to a challenge Rohit Sharma threw to Mohammed Shami, who delivered. Rishabh Pant and Deepak Hooda didn't get a chance last game, let's see if they can today. Pant can be the left-hander adding the requisite variety, as Sachin Tendulkar said. Remember, 15 members can take part in the game.
New Zealand were beaten comprehensively by South Africa but they were coming off a tri-series final and will be happy with giving players a chance ahead of their start to the tournament against Australia.
5pm: After a World Cup semi-final, WTC Final, and an effective T20 World Cup knockout, New Zealand have a chance to one-up India, their literal team to beat. But this time, it's in the low stakes of a warm-up match.
