Scorer: Binoy George | Commentator: Rvel Zahid
Thanks for joining us. It's time for me, Rvel Zahid, to say goodbye on behalf of Binoy George. Join us tomorrow for the doubleheader!
6 for 9 for Netravalkar! He was the key protagonist of the win but don't forget Phillips' spellbinding catches that played a huge part in this convincing win for Washington Freedom. 134 wasn't a very daunting total on this tricky wicket but maybe just enough on this track that had plenty of assistance for the bowlers. It was a tremendous bowling performance from Freedom who were bowling gas and extracting bounce, nailing their lines and lengths. The day belongs to Netravalkar though who picked up wickets at will and created a lot of panic in his first spell, overshadowing Haris Rauf's spell but you got to question Unicorns approach in this chase who seemed too turgid and didn't pick the right balls to attack. They could have rotated the strike more to get closer to the target when the power-hitting wasn't working.
Netravalkar, Player of the Match: "Not sunk yet. Feeling very blessed to get this opportunity. The team has created a great environment and I am enjoying it. We fight till the end, I didn't think about hattrick and was trying to bowl my best balls, got support from the fielders, some brilliant catches by Glenn."
Finch: "I think our bowlers did quite well. It was a reasonable score on this wicket. It was always going to be a tough pitch with wicket deteriorating like that. I thought after we loss four wickets, we should have got a partnership but I wasn't able to put any pressure back on."
Henriques: Closer to worry (on the toss). I was happy I was able to bowl without much dew. Obviously it wasn't an easy wicket to bat on. If we look back as a batting group, we could have found 10 15 more runs, maybe we didn't adjust to the conditions as well as we should have. We could have taken smarter options and made it easier for our bowlers. If Sourabh didn't take six wickets, Philips is the man of the match for me. The catches he took to get rid of Wade and Finn, they were huge strikes at that moment and got us the much needed momentum. It just shows how important fielding is, his effort was done with bat but he was charging down in the field."
