4.29pm Official word. Match abandoned due to rain. It promised to be a wonderful game of cricket between two teams in the middle of the table and both still iffy about their semi-final chances. Royals were set for a competitive total courtesy Jason Roy's scintillating half-century, and Super Kings were looking to drag things back. However, that is not to be. Two points each.
In all, we had 15 overs, in two spells of 9 and 6 overs. This is the first abandoned game of the tournament, and fingers crossed it is also the last. See you around for more cricket, including the second SA20 game today that starts in 45 minutes.
Muhammed : "Don't worry you will have the rest of the day off as well. It just started raining in durban "
4.20pm Paarl Royals would really want this game to happen because this is their penultimate match and would love four (or five) points. Their last game is against the table toppers Pretoria Capitals so that won't be easy and if they lose that they would finish on 19 points (which is touch and go). Super Kings will move to second third place with two games to go if today is a washout, with games against Sunrisers Eastern Cape and MI Cape Town to follow.
Joseph: "I work about half a km away from the Wanderers and unfortunately I can report that the rain is lashing down. Very heavy downpour. There are bright skies in the distance, but the problem is going to be drying the outfield."
3.57pm Still no update, which is always bad news. From the visuals on social media, chances of play are low.
We've got more rain now, and there's another delay. That's my cue to hand things over back to Sreshth, who, hopefully, should bring you live cricket shortly
Fasna: "It was not because Bavuma was undeserving to be picked but his skillset was pretty much available in the market. If you look, all the teams have got pretty solid opening batsmen either as foreigners or locals. Bavuma got pushed out because of that. Now SEC wanted a top order batsman and he is recruited. "

Ggbg: "Beyers Swanepoel, Mihlali Mpongwana, Dayyan Galiem, Bamanye Xenxe, Ruan de Swardt. Just five of many super talented players still snubbed by the sa20, because signings were based on marketability to a sa public that don't follow sa cricket and perceive ordinary overseas players as more talented."

"Great to see that Bavuma finally has a gig in the SA20," says Martin. "It might not be his strongest format, but there's no way he was ever not in the best 40 or so South African T20 batters." Thoughts, folks?
