This concludes our action for the day. Thank you for tuning in. I'm signing off on behalf of Rashad, Raghav, and the rest of the ESPNcricinfo staff. Goodnight.
Paarl Royals Captain David Miller:"(Top of the Table) Yeah. Very delighted and asked to get over the line eventually at the end there. The goal is to take everyone we can and it's been great to obviously get three wins in front of our home fans and supporters. Look, I mean where we were, we had really by the throat, and then kind of the last two overs, obviously, less than as we all know. But look it's the nature of the game as well. And I thought still it was a par score. It was a touch slow and it was obviously difficult to score in the middle there. I thought the guys batted beautifully up front got us up to a great start, got us ahead of the game, and then kind of managed it from there. (Bowling Unit) Very delighted. It was just one of those wickets where we went with the spin and when it worked out and the guys bowled exceptionally. Well, I had too many options at one stage and it was really nice to have. Just something to work on, the game's moving forward at the back end, just with a few plans here and there. But other than that, all good. We've got an adaptable squad, and we've changed our squad, probably every game according to the conditions, so, managed to work at this stage. In the last two years, we've started really well and finished really badly. So it's something that we're really aware of and just gonna keep going game by game, keep winning our home games. And I'll see where we go. But I mean, we're obviously playing in PE as well Durban. It's also a touch slow there. So yeah, I think we got our bases covered for now."
Joburg Super Kings Captain Faf du Plessis: "I think you're frustrated is a good way to sum it up. But once again when you come in here you bat first. Second (innings) it's gonna get a little bit easier. So 135 or 140 or 145, it's not going to give a lot of batting lineup sleepless nights. So you really have to push the envelope a little bit in terms of 170 180, then you're in the game. I think that the wicket we have seen is quite a bit of slow, slowness on the surface. So always here, make sure your first innings are a bit more. Today, I thought we batted poorly in those first eight overs. Wickets like that, generally demand for you just to hang in a little bit. Then the partnership grows and then life gets a bit easier in the middle. (Bowling and Fielding performance) I mean I've always spoken about it actually after Cape Town. Sometimes what can happen is you just sit back a little bit, whether it's mentally or, your body language. And the game is a funny way of finding you in the field and you just sit back. So, yeah, that's definitely something we will talk about. For me fielding is controllable and the effort you put into the field. It's in your own hands so every match we should tidy up a little bit in that area. So not good enough from that department tonight but I hope you'll see Improvement next game."
Mustafa Moudi : "Rare to see a player from losing team winning the POTM Award. Really happy that outstanding performance are awarded the Player of the Match irrespective of the Result !!"
Player of the Match Jonny Bairstow: "I thought we were competitive. We were quite 15, 20 (runs) short, really. But look, that's part of the game you learn and move on. But look, they took wickets early on which put us on the back foot. So fair play to them, they were the better team on the day. (Batting approach) Yeah exactly. You are spot on there. I think if you go a bit too early then all of a sudden you end up five, six down and you're completely out of the game. So it was a case of staying in the game for as long as possible and we got some rewards right at the end, those last, I think four or five overs. We scored about 55 runs or something. So yeah, if you're brave enough to just get to the back end, we obviously knew with the wind coming into this side and it's never easy to defend with wind and other things. So, having myself and Donovan there at the end with a bit of firepower to try and exploit the shorter side was definitely in our thoughts. (Experience in SA20) Absolutely love it! Yeah, what a competition. An amazing country. I've had some extremely fond memories of touring here over a period of time and then you see here watching it on TV back at home and you want to be a part of it. So I am absolutely loving my time over here, a great bunch of fellas in the dressing room, and yeah, what an amazing country."
The Paarl Royals batters batted intelligently. They never took their foot off the gas during this game. There were a few strange dismissals, though, that gave the JSK players a sense of hope However, the bowlers were unable to match their performance later in the innings. Pretorious began the innings with a magnificent cover drive, which was followed by excellent strokes all over the pitch. He departed after scoring 27 runs off 14 balls, laying the groundwork for the innings and absorbing all of the pressure early in it. Van Buuren contributed significantly in the middle, assisting Miller. Later on, Miller grabbed the lead and played an essential knock, staying in the crease and driving his team over the line with a massive six to secure the game. Viljoen took two wickets, while Ferreira and Tahir both had one. With tonight's victory, the Paarl Royals rise to the top of the standings. After a short break, we'll return for the post-match presentation.
