Well, that's finally the halfway stage of the SA20 wrapped up. And what a way to end the first half of the season. A terrific game, which at one point didn't look likely. On behalf of everyone at ESPNcricinfo, this is Sreshth and Sudeep signing off. Ta-da!
Pooran is the Player of the Match: "All praise and thanks to Jesus. Crowd has been great for us through the campaign, not just tonight. The rain was around but they were loyal fan and great to get the points today. I don't feel pressure, you're only under pressure if you don't know what you want to do. I'm really happy for the four points."
Rashid, winning captain: "After the first bowling powerplay, the way we came back was a brilliant effort. Chasing that was something amazing. Pooran is famous for those shots and that's what we are expecting from him. The blasting innings in the middle is needed for that 250-300 strike-rate. It was a long wait for a win after last year's final. Good momentum next two games. This win will give us so much energy."
Du Plessis, losing captain: "We played a good game. Frustrating thing is that Duckworth Lewis in T20s still has a long way to go. Cloudy conditions made it tough to catch. Wet conditions made fielding difficult as well as death bowling. Otherwise our boys have been doing well."
The defending champs now know how victory this season tastes. They'll be chasing this feeling for the rest of the season now.
10.18pm Absolutely electric atmosphere at Newlands as the home team win, courtesy a DLS-adjusted target but they also bowled well in the second half of the first innings. Credit to Bosch and Rashid for restricting JSK to 123 in 12 overs, and after that, a couple of scintillating cameos from Pooran, Smith and van der Dussen ensured their first win after six games. With one washout point also, MICT are on six points, but quite close to fourth-placed Durban's Super Giants who are on 8 points after five games. A blip for JSK, who suffer their first defeat. Slippery conditions in the second innings and even visually it was tough to field with so much mist. Nonetheless, no excuses. A classy game. One the fans in attendance will not forget one bit. And if you were someone who left when it was raining... well, you missed all the fun. Cricket, eventually, was the winner.
MICT need five in six balls
