The 18 overs bowled by spin today was the most in an innings in the WPL. The top six wicket-takers in the WPL are all spinners too.

5:05pm An exceptional bowling display by the Warriorz, keeping down a strong batting unit to just 127. Their spinners controlled the run-flow throughout the innings and kept picking up wickets at regular intervals. MI, courtesy of Wong, though, have put up a total on the board that might not be very easy to chase down. The ball is holding up, spinning and there is a bit of tennis-ball bounce. MI have an excellent spin-bowling attack themselves, meaning that this game, at the half-way stage, is far from over. Do join us in a bit for the run-chase!

Sophie Ecclestone: (On her performance) Really happy with the performance. The spinners put in a great performance. (On the pitch) It is a really tricky pitch to play on. I think our spinners did a good job. (Message to the batters) Just play smart cricket. It was turning a lot towards the end of the innings.

Sharma to Ishaque, OUT, Deepti hits the stumps again, this time at the bowler's end! Yorker outside off stump. Ishaque digs it out into the off side and hares across. Deepti picks it up cleanly and hits bulls eye at the bowler's end!

S Ishaque run out 0 (3m 2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Sharma to Ishaque, no run, full delivery just outside off stump. Ishaque swings like a rusty gate and gets nowhere close to the ball

Saika Ishaque is the last batter in

Sharma to Wong, 1 run, OUT, oh dear! Full delivery on leg stump. Wong gives herself room and drills it down the ground. Wong is intent on the second and calls her partner through, despite Kalita not being very interested. Deepti, though, shows smartness to gather the throw and hit the stumps at the batter's end, catching Wong just short of her ground! Excellent from Deepti, not as much from Wong! Take nothing away from this cameo, though. This has given MI something to bowl at!

IECM Wong run out 32 (36m 19b 4x4 1x6) SR: 168.42

4
Sharma to Wong, FOUR, back of a length delivery on leg stump. Wong opens up her stance and shovels it between deep square leg and deep mid wicket for four!

Sharma to Wong, no run, darted into the pads again. Wong has a heave at it but this time, misses. Pings into the pads

Sharma to Wong, SIX, clean strike! Fired into the slot just outside leg stump. Wong gives herself even more room and pumps it over long off!

Can MI get to 125? That won't be easy against Deepti, though

Ecclestone to Wong, 1 run, full toss darted into the stumps. Wong resists the temptation to have a swing at it and instead, picks up a single calmly to deep mid wicket

Single or a boundary, what does Wong look for?

Ecclestone to Wong, no run, slowed up on a length just outside off stump. Wong backs away and swishes at it, only to miss it altogether. That was not very far away from off stump either

1
Ecclestone to Kalita, 1 run, length delivery at the stumps. Kalita gets inside the line and helps it towards short fine leg for a single

Interesting decision to take the single off the final ball of the previous over. If MI are to get close to 130, you feel Wong will have to face as many balls as possible. Ecclestone to bowl the penultimate over

Sharma to Gujjar, OUT, Deepti has another! Full and fired into off stump. Dhara has an agricultural hoick at it and loses her stumps in the process. That was too full to be playing that stroke and MI slide further into trouble!

Sharma to Gujjar, 2 runs, back of a length delivery outside off stump. Dhara has a swipe across the line and somehow toe-ends it past the keeper and short third man for a brace

Sharma to Gujjar, 1 run, full delivery just outside off stump. Dhara comes down the track and pushes it towards long off for a single

Sid: "Wong should keep the strike as can as possible, to atleast reach 120.." -- If she bats till the end, 130 might be a possibility too. And that would be a competitive score on this surface

17.2
2w
Sharma to Wong, 2 wides, full and darted down the leg side. Wong does not get bat on it and the keeper can't gather either. Two extras added to MI's total!

Gayakwad to Kazi, OUT, cleans her up! Slowed up on a length on middle and leg stump. Humaira has an old-fashioned slog across the line but is nowhere close to the pitch of the ball. It sneaks past the bat and then thunders into the stumps!

Gayakwad to Kazi, 2 runs, back of a length delivery outside off stump. Humaira pokes it towards extra cover where Deepti first misfields and allows the single. She then fires a wild throw and concedes the second

Gayakwad to Kazi, 2 runs, full delivery outside off stump. Humaira reaches out for it and drags it towards long on. Navgire dives on the fence but does just enough to keep it down to two

Gayakwad to Kazi, no run, oh my! Given plenty of air on a length just outside off stump. Humaira has a fish at it and sees the ball snake past the outside edge. The umpires are checking for a stumping, though. Humaira did over-balance a touch but did well to keep her back foot grounded and inside the crease!
