That's it from the Women's Hundred action for today, but the Men's game between the same teams is about to start shortly. For Chandankumar Duorah and Vairavan K, I'm Rvel Zahid. Goodbye
Lauren Bell, Match Hero: The emotions were up and down! In that last set of five I had a lot of adrenaline. It was cool, that's what we play cricket for. You just go ball by ball at the death, and see what player you're bowling at. Pace-off was working on this pitch, and pace-on was a good variation, so it was ball by ball. The ideal final ball was a straight yorker and I don't think I was too far away from executing. Maybe we should have just looked at the field a bit but what can you do, hindsight is lovely.
Phew, let me catch my breath. These Hundred ball games have a habit of serving thrillers. What an outstanding game of cricket that went down to the wire. It was a fierce tug of war where no team was out of the game right till the last delivery. Superb captaincy from Georgia Adams, who didn't give up and entrusted her leader of the pace attack, Lauren Bell, with the last over. Bell sent the panic bells ringing, bowled a barrage of stunning yorkers, and almost got her team over the line. Southern Brave must be the happier side after only scraping their way to 100 runs and making way too many errors with the bat. There were three run-outs in their innings but a few contributions gave them something to bowl at. We knew the Superchargers have a lethal bowling arsenal that made a game out of a low score.
What about the Superchargers' reply? The openers didn't get into double figures but then Phoebe Litchfield soaked in pressure and made 24 before losing the plot with an unwise shot which proved to be a major turning point. It opened a window for Brave as the asking rate kept rising. Annabel Sutherland only added a sluggish 10 and then Alice Davidson-Richards looked like she would get her side home with ease, but she got bowled in the last set and suddenly the Superchargers were on the backfoot. The intensity was telling throughout the contest. Both sides' bowling had a fabulous outing but the batting misfired and they'll need to go back to the drawing board and devise better plans to get it together
Dipanshi Tyagi: "is there no super over thing?" Nope, it's only for the Eliminator and Final
DaWolf: "This is a poor chase. They might get there - 17 from 18 needed, less than a run a ball - but they are playing like they are chasing 101. Play to chase 111 and stop a late run rate squeeze being possible."
