Alice Davidson-Richards, Match Hero: It was quite hard to bat on as you saw it was quite a low-scoring game but nice to get over the line. Quite tough on a good length, a lot of slow balls, even by the end of it didn't feel like I was actually middling or think I managed to middle one or it was probably a forward defence. Yeah, quite tough out there. Just trying to work out how to build an innings, trying to find the gaps, and where the fours could come from and where they are gonna miss, it was just sticking there and hope for the best.
That is a seriously potent bowling attack that can deflate any opposition on their day and become nightmarish if there is some assistance from the pitch. A sorry-looking scorecard for Phoenix, who looked out of sorts right from the powerplay and didn't compete at all with the bat. Batting first on a slowish wicket where it was tough to time the ball, Alice Davidson-Richards gauged the conditions well and made a doughty 49 off 42 deliveries. Annabel Sutherland continued her rich vein of form and made a brisk 30 but couldn't push on and played a rare false stroke. In reply, Phoenix had a sluggish start in the powerplay and looked confused. Sophie Devine blocked quite a few deliveries, Sterre Kalis faced five balls before getting out for nought and Ellyse Perry's misery ended after an 11-ball seven. Seren Smale hung around for a while before getting bowled while trying an improvised stroke.
There was nothing much to speak about the batting performance; this crushing defeat will dent Phoenix's net run rate as they had a torrid, forgettable day with the bat. All Superchargers' bowlers kept it under one run per ball. Kate Cross took the big wicket of Amy Jones, Grace Ballinger picked up a couple, and Linsey Smith and Georgia Wareham each took three wickets. Sutherland also contributed with one scalp. It was an easy day at the office for the Superchargers, who bagged their third win in a row and are enjoying a terrific run. Men's game starting shortly, coverage has already started.
