That's all from this rain-marred game. Join us for the Men's Hundred game scheduled to start in about an hour (weather permitting). Until then, it's goodbye and goodnight from Rvel
5:07pm: I'm afraid, I've some disappointing news: the match has been abandoned. It just continues to pour down with remote prospect of sneaking in even a 25-ball game and so sadly, that's the end of the final group stage game and the end of Birmingham Phoenix and Manchester Originals campaign in this year's Hundred. Both teams will split points. There are puddles forming on the ground and we still have one game left at this venue today. The ground staff will need a major mop-up operation once the rain stops to get the outfield ready in time. Let's hope we get more cricket
4:30pm: Latest start time for 25 ball match will be 17:38. Spectators haven't left and have moved up the aisles to find some shade. Let's grab some coffee and snacks while we wait for better news
4:18pm: Ellyse Perry is chatting with Alice Monaghan on the sidelines and the players look keen to get back on the field. It's tipping down and conditions remain pretty much the same. We could be in for a long delay as the pictures look gloomy
4:05pm: We have 30 minutes before we start losing overs. The square is also getting covered now and it's steadily trickling down. The ground staff is very busy
3:48pm: Alright, so the umpires have had enough; the bails have been removed, the stumps uprooted, and the hover cover is coming out. The rain has gotten slightly heavier and I think it's a fair call because the conditions were becoming tougher for the bowlers, while the batters were having fun and going about it swimmingly. Let's hope it's just a passing shower. Only the pitch has been covered, not the square. There's a strong breeze that should help carry the moisture away
