Well, that concludes our coverage for this first ODI. Keep an eye out for the report, that will soon be up. Hope to have your company for the second ODI on Wednesday. Till then, on behalf of Harshith and Gnasher, this is Sudarshanan signing off. Ciao!
6:18pm Kim Garth, Player of the Match: It was nice to bowl on a wicket that offered a bit for the bowlers. Credit to Schutt for setting the tone. She was the highlight in what was a complete show from the bowlers. We just complement each other very well. She bowls the inswingers and I try to take the ball away. We are in a really good spot after a closely-fought T20 series. Maybe haven't put together a complete performance yet. We are strong in this format, glad to get every opportunity to play.
Laura Wolvaardt, South Africa captain: "Very tough day at the office, after a good T20s. Needed better application with the bat early on. We could have done a lot better in a lot of things. Kappie batted well, need to chat what worked for her. Seamers came out well. Losing Kapp not ideal. We have got to take positives and come back stronger."
Alyssa Healy, Australia captain: "Not to do too much. After winning the toss, getting early wickets crucial, our bowlers did that well. That was expensive spell [from Schutt]! Really great leader, great bowler. Good to celebrate her 200th game in front of Adelaide Oval crowd. There's still a few things we can work on. We played a fantastic game, we love ODIs and we backed it up well."
6:14pm Australia seal a clinical win and go 6-2 in the multi-format series! The result was never in doubt after the bowlers helped restrict South Africa to their lowest ODI score against Australia - 105. Add to it that they were without Kapp, who was injured. The touring seamers began well, dismissing Litchfield and Healy in relative quick succession. But Mooney and Perry showed why they are regarded so highly, bringing their experience into play with an unconquered partnership. Five overs of spin from South Africa went for 43
