4.44pm That is that. No Ed Joyce, no problem for Ireland. Andy Balbirnie led the way for them with a sublime century and was ably complemented by punchy knocks from the O'Brien brothers - Niall and Kevin. Coetzer's brisk fifty upfront and a late counterattack from the Scotland tail threatened Ireland, but they hung on to wrap up a 25-run win. Coetzer was particularly severe on Rankin, but the Irish seamer overcame a difficult start to take 4 for 63, securing the victory as the clouds parted and the ground was bathed in afternoon sunshine. This is Scotland's first loss in this tournament. Liam Brickhill's report will tell you the full story of the day. Thanks for reading. Goodbye for now
Balbirnie, Man of the Match: The quick turnaround has helped. It hasn't been a great tournament for me, but happy to get some runs. Luckily Niall played a run-a-ball innings, Kevin did the same, and that helped me. We are going to take a couple of days off and get back to it.
Porterfield: We knew we had to turn up and two points today. We were disappointing with the bat against Zimbabwe, so this turnaround was pleasing. We were good against Afghanistan over the last winter and back ourselves.
Coetzer: This was one of the best wickets in the tournament, maybe they got too many runs. A couple of crucial moments in the game did not go our way.
Kabir: "Ireland & Afghanistan live another day. They have only chance if West Indies too beat Scotland and looses to Zimbabwe, then there would be a point tie between West Indies & Afghanistan/ Ireland"
