6:35pm Right. That brings us to the end of our coverage for the second ODI between New Zealand and Bangladesh. A game that promised so much at the half-way mark fizzled out, as far as the spectacle of the contest was concerned, with NZ being so dominant in the second innings. Bangladesh, though, will have a chance to get a win on the board in a couple of days' time in Napier. Do join us for that game too. Until then, this is me (Shashwat) signing off on behalf of Raghav, Thilak and everyone else at ESPNcricinfo. Goodbye and take care!

6:30pm A clinical run-chase, set up by New Zealand's top three. Ravindra got things underway, rattling along to 45 in 33 balls. Young then took over after Ravindra fell, allowing Nicholls the time to settle in. The pair then put on 128 for the second wicket which effectively knocked the stuffing out of Bangladesh. Neither got to their hundred but their innings ensured that New Zealand were always ahead in the game. Nicholls' knock, in particular, was super, given the pressure he was under due to his middling recent form.

As for Bangladesh, well, they lacked penetration. The wicket did not offer them much but their lines and lengths were far too inconsistent. Mahmud picked up a couple of wickets but went at more than eight runs per over. Shoriful was the only other bowler to bag a wicket. In hindsight, Bangladesh might also rue the early wickets they lost in their batting innings, for it rid them of a score in excess of 300. Sarkar was magnificent, but none of the others stood up consistently enough, and that sort of sums up this game for the visitors.

Soumya Sarkar, Player of the Match: I am happy with my hundred but sad that we lost. If we had won, it would have been more special. If we had not lost three wickets in the powerplay, it might have made a difference. We got two partnerships in the middle but we lost wickets at crucial moments. If that had not happened, we would have gotten a good total. We are practising hard in the nets. I am coming into the team after a long time. Not thinking too much, just watching the ball and trying to play my own game. (Favourite shot of the day) I think it has to be the pull shot over mid-wicket.

Rishad Hossain to Blundell, SIX, Blundell ices the run-chase in style! New Zealand win by seven wickets and take an unassailable lead in the series! In the slot outside off and Blundell cashes in. Gets down on one knee and smites it well over the long on fence. A good rebound catch in the crowd too, and everyone is happy on the grass banks. A top, top run-chase that never really seemed in doubt!

Najmul Hossain Shanto to Blundell, no run, similarly short on off stump. Does not bounce as much as Blundell expects and he clinks his pull to mid wicket for the second ball running

Najmul Hossain Shanto to Blundell, no run, dropped short on off stump. Blundell rocks back and pulls it straight to mid wicket

Najmul Hossain Shanto to Blundell, 2 runs, back of a length at the stumps. Blundell creates room for himself and times it exquisitely past extra cover. Deep cover point misfields too, and allows the second
