2.20pm: Mitchell Santner takes seven wickets for the match, 4 for 85 as England collapse to 234 all out in their second innings. Matt Henry and the retiring Tim Southee have two wickets apiece for the innings and Will O'Rourke one from his venomous spell this morning. "Now just imagine if NZ held all catches first test!" muses Aaron.

Santner is Player of the Match. He says: "You might get the odd ground in NZ that spins a bit and you've got to stay ready. It's nice to always bowl with a bit of a lead there." On his role with the bat: "That period, we tried to make it as tough as we can, keep them out there bowling." On Tim Southee: "Everyone here will miss Tim Southee, he's been an oustanding player for us."

Harry Brook is Player of the Series: "It just opens up different areas to score, there's been quite a bit of bounce on these wickets this time around. I'm still trying to enjoy my cricket, work hard and keep getting better every day. I felt like I used the counter-punch well in the second game... thankfully it came off."

New Zealand captain Tom Latham says "we spoke about" the dropped catches in the first game. "We managed to get England in those positions, weren't able to capitalise in the first two games." On Tim Southee: "Wickets, runs - and sixes - speak for themselves but the legacy Timmy is leaving speaks for itself. The person he is, we'll miss his attributes on the field but a great team man. We're certainly leaving one of the greats behind but I'm sure he has a bright future ahead of him, whatever that may be and I'd like to congratulate him."

Ben Stokes, England captain: "Not ideal to end this tour on this note but we've come up against a New Zealand side doing well off the back of beating India so to lift this trophy shows we've beaten a great side. We wanted to leave here with three victories in the bag, it's disappointing as a team to leave as we have done... the first two Test matches are where it counted, we would have liked to end on better terms but it is what it is."

Sir Richard Hadlee is making a special presentation to Tim Southee to mark his retirement after 107 Tests spanning nearly 17 years. Southee accepts with these words: "Congratulations England on a series win, as always played in great spirit." He thanks New Zealand Cricket, his family and the fans, plus: "Team-mates, these guys made the ride all the more enjoyable." Short and sweet as one of the Black Caps' great servants makes his way from the field on his home ground for the last time as a Test player.

Depending on Pakistan's 4 matches vs. SA and West Indies, England could fall behind Pakistan and their ranking of 7 is more realistic representation of England's Test Team. They are closer closer to the bottom than top vs. the "Vibes" of a strong Test team which we've been spoonfed over the last 4 years. Over two WTC, England are nowhere near the top - should Winning matter?"
